Safety - old fogey post

My 16-year-old daughter and two of her friends want to come to Leeds Festival this year. Plenty of tickets on Twickets.

As a concerned dad, who's only every heard horror stories of tents being burned down or destroyed. Is there a 'sensible' place to camp at the festival?

The further away you camp from the arena the better in regards to the "safety" aspect. I'd suggest brown or green if you really wana get away from it. Whilst there are still idiots at the festival and likely always will be the general attitude has come on a long way in the past decade and the likes of bottling acts, tent burning and riots are for the most part just a part of festival folklore now.

If it is the same layout as usual, Brown camp will be the calmest - it is furthest away from the arena, has least through-traffic and no late night music nearby.  This year's ticket sales mean it will be busier than usual, but it should still be the most "sensible" - the big groups want to be as close to the arena (and the late night entertainment) as possible.  The flipside however is that it is quite a hike to the arena.

But mass burning of tents is a thing of the past, so things would really have to go sideways for that to be an issue.

Plenty of safe places, the horror stories mostly come from the campsites situated next to Piccadilly and Relentless (now the LS23 Stage) so the further you get away from those areas the calmer it tends to be, the far side of purple or anywhere in green would probably be their best bet if they want somewhere peaceful but these areas are a long walk from the main arena.
