It was September 10-12 this year though, no dates announced for next as of yet. Not a cert it'll be June again.

Guess it partially hangs on licensing in Crystal Palace Park — which, by all accounts, was well-received as a new home for Wireless (the South Facing series was great too) — or if they retreat to more regular ground.

Finsbury was completely empty this summer but theres already a George Ezra gig there in July when Wireless usually is. I reckon its moving back to be honest

Can anyone explain why Lizzo is big enough to sub? Irrespective of what she’s done elsewhere, and how well her she went down on WH, in the UK she’s had one top 10 single and her highest album peak was #30 and plays O2 Academies

She got more and more popular during that album campaign. That's why the peaks aren't really relevant; the listens didn't come all at once. And those academy dates later on in her tour flew out - I guess they could have exercised the option to add dates but probably better to bottle up the demand for when she's in arenas next time out.

I think there's a lot of predicting where she'll end up but, judging by what other festivals are going for, it seems that it's predicted that her next album will be pretty huge.

Im brief. She's blown up overseas so automatically that means she's bigger than she is here.

I too think a sub is crazy, I wouldn't say any higher that subbing Other at the absolute max.

Is it just me or has the QOTSA news only made real waves here?

It's obviously fucking awful if true but the judge denied the initial restraining order (although allowed a separate one for his daughter which is a little more suspect....)

There'd be little backlash if they were announced.

Edit: I wasn't suggesting anything with saying it's more suspect, I haven't read into that one

Has it made any major waves? I know there was some discussion when the story first broke, but unless there are any major developments I can imagine a lot of people will have forgotten come June.

Think it’ll come down to individual action. I’m not comfortable watching him based on what has been reported and will most likely look elsewhere if they’re playing. It’s up to others whether they feel similar.

Lizzo is about as mainstream as it comes now. Everyone is pretty familiar with her and she is known for being a great live act.

Reason why i think she’s in the frame is a) her 2019 set went down a storm and b) she is rumoured to be back at some festivals like Bonaroo so I imagine she’s on the summer circuit.

Last time she did, and those venues seemed surprisingly small when it was announced - the demand was high enough that all of the shows could have sold out multiple times over. There's no doubt that next time she's over here it'll be in arenas.

Pete Townshend headlined twice despite that “research” into child pornography never materialising into a book.

It did materialise into a treatise (published well before his arrest), though, which does somewhat negate the cries of "where's the book".

Still an absolute fucking idiot of course, but on examination it seems most likely that he's deluded himself into thinking he can save the world from this, rather than being anything more sinister than that.

I don’t think glasto has ever booted someone off the lineup due to a personal matter before have they?

That we know of, as things could well have happened pre-lineup that caused an act to be dropped before even being announced.

I don’t think QOTSA will be dropped for this and it’ll be pretty much forgotten about by most come six months from now (if it hasn’t been already) but if they’re not on the lineup at least we’ll know Glastonbury does take some kind of a stand sometimes.

Anyway this is the pyramid sub thread and QOTSA will not be subbing the pyramid so can we go back to who is playing before our three headliners this year.

Can everyone say what their gut is telling them right now… go…

Green light red light go!

(mine is Dave, Lizzo, Noel)

The Pyramid sub slot belongs to the indie.

It definitely seems to be the destination but I’d think it strange for Foals to return to a sub slot. I think the only serial sub slot booking we’ve had is Nick Cave right?

Anyway I don’t think it’s the right place for them now. I think they will be absent from the festival for a while now until they are back headlining JP or something.

I also am doubting slightly that HAIM are going to make the jump.

Noel’s comments when he said he’d love to be back at Glasto… does he have any dates for 2022 yet? I’m just wondering there is a chance he could drop off or disappear. We assume he wants to be there to support McCartney but if he hasn’t got plans to tour he could vanish.

Dave, Royal Blood, Noel

Realistic imo. I’m coming round a bit to Royal Blood being there but if it is a repeat of their 2020 plans none of them involved Glastonbury - so I could just see them not being there.

Also with QOTSA being drafted in somewhere that Royal Blood would have fit perfectly it doesn’t give me much hope.

Unless Royal Blood was the mysterious Taylor Swift sub all along.
