Prof Robert West, a behavioural scientist at University College London who participates in Sage’s behavioural science subgroup, SPI-B, said that while the committee had not been formally stood down, he had the “strong impression it is no longer functioning”. “The sense I have is that there’s just no interest in evidence or science on the behavioural side,” he said.

That'll probably be because the  'behavioural side' turned out to be a bunch of utter fucking psychos intent on 'nudging' society to their own, OCD vision of normality.

Prof Susan Michie, the director of the Centre for Behaviour Change at University College London and another SPI-B participant, said: “Sage and many others are predicting rising rates of Covid and other respiratory viruses and serious NHS pressures, and there is considerable uncertainty [about] the scale of the problems we are going to see over the winter. Sage has pointed out that what happens will depend to a considerable extent on people’s behaviour.

“Now is not the time to lose independent behavioural scientific advice to government, whether or not they choose to use it.”

This would be the same SAGE that predicted cases would double to a minimum of 100,000 per day when their beloved face coverings and distancing were launched into the bin in England two months ago - with 200,000 being their ballpark figure. Instead cases dropped by one-third!

No wonder all these clowns are getting shunted out the door then. Useless, knicker-wetting freaks.

You mean you got it wrong and can't admit it.  Oh well.  Still wearing your mask ?

Anyway...

I wonder what todays announcement means for kids in regards to testing ?  They aren't double jabbed....  and under the old rules had to get a day 2 test at least.  Do they still need PCR or just LF ?

still a fishy c**t.

so this thread is just a endless stream of rants against something called fake sage and then an ozanne vaccine update.

Well... are you defending how Diet SAGE are behaving?

There is covid news posted on here. And whilst people have (deserved) bad opinikn towards the likes of deepti, it's still an open  topic for discussion.

If you think we should have restrictions, why do you feel this? And what's your evidence to support it?

It’s really funny how when you just life your life and go back to normal / stop reading COVID news online… life strangely doesn’t revolve around COVID.

I do wonder if in the first year of COVID because there was such a hyper focus on numbers and bad news, people’s perception of reality became incredibly narrow. Yes we had a horrible first and second wave, but after vaccination the situation is entirely different. To me, Indie SAGE are targeting an audience who are stuck in that lockdown 1/2 mindset and have not moved out of it. People are terrified from what has happened understandably, but what causes anger towards Indie SAGE is that they are deliberately targeting these people and keeping them scared to keep their audience. All news is bad news and anything which contradicts their prediction is flawed. In some weird ‘horseshoe’ way they approach things the same way that QAnon believers do. Also - the fact that according to IS things are just irreversibly fucked only attracts those with a bit of a doom complex anyway.

What really started to anger me was their complete rejection of any progress, or denial of progress, and the fact that their solutions were completely hyperbolic. The fact that their panel of guests usually involve speakers with backgrounds in British Communist Parties and extreme left-wing think tanks. It just feels to me like a bunch of political activists who want to use the pandemic as a way to get Boris Johnson out of power.

Whilst I have absolutely had enough of the tories - trying to frustrate the country and put forward ideas of doom and civilisation collapse isn’t the way to do it. But it’s typical. The problem with Starmer’s Labour Party is their strategy is tired and doesn’t work, but they can’t see that it won’t work. They think that if they can frustrate the tories and push them into a corner, or cause society to collapse, the working people will come begging for socialism. That’s not how it works. That’s not how people think. This is why people have had enough of opposition parties in the U.K, because Labour etc don’t want to be a better party with better policies, they just want the tories to lose. They have a complete inability to understand that people would vote for them if they were a better party. Indie SAGE for months has just stunk of an undercover Guardian/Labour party activist plot. A complete extension of Starmers political strategy. Their understanding of ordinary people is in the academic sense and not in the real life sense - and this is why they fail - people don’t behave like they do in academia.

To qualify when I say that their understanding of people is academic - I see it every day in my industry. I work alongside highly educated, high research, high commercial awareness types. They surround themselves with people who have the same educational background as themselves, and when they are dinner and drinks the conversations they have typically debate complex topics and subjects. Thus a growing detachment forms and their understanding of people different to them is gathered through data and studies. They don’t understand how people who don’t spend all day researching COVID / virology theory don’t want some form of new world order / new normal. They forget that people just simply think different to them.

This also extends to the political sense. If you spend all day reading Marx and Hegelian theory you get a really warped sense of class and how people think. You really struggle to understand how people have a different view on socialism to you. Starmers lot instead of finding middle ground would just rather push people in the direction they want hoping they like it.

There was an article in the paper yesterday about the number of over 50's who have dropped out of the workforce during covid and appear to have no intention of returning.

The suspicion is they have all been scared witless and so downgraded how long they are going to last in retirement and therefore how much money they need. If they don't return and last to life expectancy its apparently going to exacerbate what is already a massive pensions crisis we are heading into.

Doctors want more money to do their jobs.  Greedy bastards.

A friend of mine has just been diagnosed with throat cancer after putting off going to the doctors due to the guilt tripping behaviour management stuff. Makes me so angry

Sorry to hear about your friend.

I do think the NHS workers on the front line deserve a bonus/pay rise.

Probably right - senior people in my work wear masks at their desks in their own offices and refuse to attend in person meetings. They are terrified. I don’t know how this is going to be unwound.

These people clearly aren’t daft given that they’re in senior positions.

People have completely lost the ability to assess risk

I’m not saying they are daft I just think older people feel less risk adverse to younger people - and younger people may be more willing to take their chances.

I think what it is too is that the narrative with COVID for a long time has been that it’s a deadly disease and people have got used to seeing a death ticker pop up on their phone every day. That warps people’s perception of reality. Whether they are smart or not.

Btw the only reason fake sage are saying “we don’t need a lockdown, just small mitigations” is to keep people on side their their agenda.

If the govt brings back masks, fake SAGE will then demand the rule of 6.

If the government then bring back the rule of 6, fake SAGE will then demand a full household mixing ban.

Then they’ll demand full lockdown.

Whatever the government does, fake SAGE will push for one step further.

Twats.

When it comes to masks I'm very much of the opinion that you should do what makes you feel safer and more comfortable and if that means wearing a mask in a setting that others might not feel necessary then that's a personal call and that's fine.

Having said that, the couple I saw in a rowing boat in the middle of Lake Windermere probably didn't need their masks today.

Another holiday bites the dust...

BA just contacted me to offer me a full refund for my NYC trip for October Half Term.  Sadly had no choice but to accept 😞

Next up is LA in Feb 2022...  I haven't much hope for that either...

I've some friends getting married in NYC in Spring. The younger couple vaccinated with Pfizer whilst older parents and guests with AZ. I really hope they don't have the difficult decisions to make I suspect they may.
