That Coldplay theory sounds likable.

When reading "They'll surely manage to book biggest name we expect" i cant unthink Billie Eilish for some reason.

i could see Killers and Lorde as well, both with new albums and touring (not necessarily headlining)

I cross my fingers for Billie Eilish and Dua Lipa!

There are some artists/bands that I think are perfect for Festivals (for example, The Hives, Macklemore, etc...), they have great energy in their songs and in their attitude on stage.

And I feel some, like Billie Eilish, are not. Careful here : I really like her ! But Am I the only one who thinks her songs (at least 90% of it) are too "personnal", kinda too quite, for festivals .. ?

I don't think majority of artists or festival bookers care about that, artists just think about the big payday and bookers how mnay tickets they sell.

Also not everyone is after the same thing from a festival act, if it was say a download you may have a point about the energy. Sziget is so big and so many different types of much it fits all, the same way Glastonbury and Roskilde do.

No idea about Billie Eilish, never heard an of her songs. But you could say the same about acts like Radiohead, Nick Cave, Bjork, Portishead but give me those over the hives(1 trick pony) and macklemore.

I guess you're right, we're not all looking for the same things in a festival ^^ Same about those who like to party at night, and those who prefer a good night sleep. I'm just not into this peaceful and quite atmosphere when I attend a festival lol, I must dance, jump and sing out loud ! 🤣

Booking Coldplay would sell out the festival in a few minutes.

Booking Coldpay would keep the festival empty all days but Coldplay day.

Are people going to pay 250 euros for coldplay(when they tour elsewhere)? I can't say I agree with your point.

Is your average festival goer bothered about Coldplay nowadays? They would sell out like sheeran, who is arguably bigger than Coldplay nowadays.

Coldplay on there own is not going to sell out sziget in a few minutes. You had one of the biggest pop stars(sheeran) and the biggest rock band(foo fighters) and it didn't sell out, let alone in a few minutes.

Looking back they've not played in Hungary since 2008, that was ac12k capacity venue.

Everywhere coldplay go sells out instantly and people travel to do different countries to see them, they have a really big pull but no doubt would only sell day tickets, no coldplay fan will want to do 7 nights of camping to see them. They are still huge and also haven’t done shows for a while, hopefully they don’t come as it will be the same as Ed Sheeran where the crowd is shit as its just his fans bobbing along, ruining every act before him (same with 21p)

I might be wrong, but didn’t Coldplay say that they weren’t going to tour anymore because it wasn’t eco-friendly? Or have they changed their stance on that? They’d be pretty cool to see live but I don’t want to get my hopes up if there’s no chance that they will tour because of that

I can't remember the exact words, and I can't be arsed to look up the exact quote, but I thought it was more along the lines of they needed to rethink how they did it rather than stop entirely.

So that could mean routing the tours in such a way that cuts down on air travel, not have those single use plastic wristbands, play groups of shows in a single place, etc.

I personally wouldn't take much notice. I remember radiohead saying they wouldn't play commercialised festivals, then headlined reading/leeds.

Does any one have any ideas on who will be playing. I have looked at a few bands floating about at the time. He are my thoughts before I get shot down.

I see KoL, Killers,  Foos and Mettalica are about. I am not sure about the last 2 but I can see there is a gap between the killers and KoL before they return to the US so I can see one off them. A Big name.DJ or rapper but I can't see who is about. George Ezra is a good shout he is playing a gig in the UK and always a shout for a festival. Possibly Lewis Capaldi or Gerry Cinnomam .  Looking at Mad Cool and a few other tours I would like to see Wolf Alice, Biffy, maybe Bloosom, war on drugs, Royal Blood. editors.and maybe a Gallagher again. I can see it being more pop acts but if I get a few off these I will be happy.

I can also see a big name female artist like Dua but they may go for a diffent name and try and get Billy again. Dua was decent a few years ago and I would rather have her.

When will we get any names?  We normally get the odd one about now

Since the tickets are going on sale at the Autumn (3 days et 1 day tickets), I believe we'll have a big part of the line up maybe end of September.. But the game can start now indeed lol, last year was pretty fun with everyones' guesses and szigetLeaks confirming some names ^^

To me, Dua Lipa, Imagine Dragons and Kings of Leon are likely to be here. Same for Calvin Harris, I don't see why he wouldn't be confirmed. And when I look at artists having new albums during the pandemic (or new albums coming soon), I believe Biffy Clyro could be there, same for MARINA or Ellie Goulding (everything depends on WHO is ready not to be a headliner, because there's only 6 places this time... 😕 )

I can agree with this, I think Dula Peep and Kings of Leon will stay on the lineup, I hope Calvin Harris too. I think that Major Lazer and The Strokes are cancelled (The Strokes are in Europe in first half of July next year and in the second half are in Australia, and I haven't seen Major Lazer announced for any other festival). I still think there is a chnace for Coldplay to come (I stated my theory here already). Maybe we can get Lorde (????) insead of Dula Peep or as a co-headliner, maybe Tyler, the Creator as a rap headliner... and what I would love the most is Glass Animals to stay on the lineup 🌞

For me rather than get a Coldplay of the world, 6 solid headliners would be better. Rather than a band costing the earth and having 2 or 3 weak headliners.

I'm sure this happened in 2019 with FF and sheeran.

i hope for Calvin and Dua to be back.

i hope Lizzo the Killers and Maroon 5 will be there too. and sure Stromae and Coldplay will be a dream.

from the smaller names i guess Manskin, khalid, noga erez, mark ronson, mable, camila cabello, biffycan join the lineup.

Maroon5 rarely do shows outside the US and I wouldn't even consider them coimg to Sziget, idk about Lizzo tho.

About Khalid... I really would love to hear him live, but he's not on Mad Cool line-up anymore and I think he won't be on Sziget's eather, idk about the rest. 😬
