Half Time - AOTYs so far....

Hard to compare the stuff that's out recently with albums that have been out for a while, as you've not had as much time to live with them. From the last few weeks really enjoying Joy Oladokum and Bachelor. From earlier in the year For Those I Love and Black Country, New Road were real stand outs.

It had a few weak tracks so wont be my album of the year, but really thought the first Weezer album of the year had some great tracks that might end up in my song of the year list.

For Those I Love is head and shoulders above everything else released this year. Not had a record hit me like that in such a long time.

Yep can't listen to it too often as it's so intense but definitely the album so far that stopped me in my tracks and made me listen. No other album has had a reaction like it so far.

For Those I Love

Anna B Savage

Black Country, New Road

I reckon those first 2 are the standouts and will definitely make the final AOTY list. The third slot could've been taken by a lot of other albums, which isn't a slight against BC,NR, its just been a strong year so far.

Amazing looking at all of the albums on this thread yet you still get people saying that there’s no good music any more and ‘they don’t make music like they used to’

They just haven’t even tried listening to anything from this year!!!

This is my number 1 pet hate

You have to have the time to dedicate to listening and discovering (and going to gigs and festivals) which, once people get into their mid 30s and have kids / careers they no longer have (as) much of. Which i think plays a big part.

its not an excuse and if you want to make time you will, but most just dont.

Fair point but why don’t they just say ‘I haven’t had a chance listen to any new stuff lately’ rather than ‘there’s no good new music anymore’?

Agreed! Plus looking back on your own youth you always think you were there at the best time 😂
