I once 'insisted' that a workmate attend the Glastonbury Festival. He eventually relented. On the Wednesday afternoon we both lit the blue touch paper. Such was our sterling effort that the early evening saw us hanging on to a huge tents guy ropes in order to stay in an upright position. I do actually recall one bloke coming up to us and saying something along the lines of 'Fuck me lads, I've been coming to the festival for donkeys years and have never ever seen two people as off their heads on the first night than you two'. Cheeky bastard! lol

Sounds like 1999 to me. Might have been 2000.

Was the 1993 festival broadcast? Channel 4 only pitched up in 1994.

I'm fairly sure that Channel 4 showed a film of the Paris gig around about the same time.....and it wasn't great.

Don't count on mine too much mate, much like yourself I am a daily user of narcotic naughtiness and I often have to question whether things that I remember actually happened or whether I've just painted a pleasant picture in my mind to enjoy instead.

I don't really dabble with the class A's though, just a wake and bake kind of guy outside of the occasional little magic stamp from the tin at the back of the fridge.

Pretty sure it was there in 96, I think I worked it that year. 

But yeah working Glasto 1992-97 then 2002-05 has caused me memory fuckage too.

Channel 4 was deffo 1994, I worked a traders gate which was right across from Ann Goode's house, where some of the C4 crew were staying and used my gate daily.

She brought me a flask and some home made scones a couple of times over the weekend too, lovely woman albeit a bit mad.

This is the Rizla tent in 1999. The weird goings on along the top and bottom of the photo are a result of the camera back momentarily flipping open while watching System 7 on the Sunday night at the Avalon Stage. Definitely user error. I was crestfallen at the time but once the film was processed it didn’t turn out as bad as I feared. Pretty sure that’s how the festival looked at times back then anyway (in keeping with the topic).

So she was against the festival but happy to take money from C4 to use as a hotel!

Does anyone have a good memory or a guide to Shangri La's 2013 set up?

This was the first year after they axed the alleys and the first year of Heaven and Hell, but I think there was still a plethora of other micro-venues in the mix and I'm wondering if anyone has a list of them.

Cos I'm sure I was in a few fairly rum corners but, you know, memory fuckage.
