Primavera Sound 2022

Haven't posted on these forums in a long long time (usually looking at the Glastonbury boards), but am off to Primavera this year. My last and only other time was 2016 with Radiohead, LCD, Action Bronson etc and we absolutely fell in love with the place, so it's great to finally be heading back, especially with friends from America who are flying over for their first.

With it being so close now, especially as I fly out via Punk in Drublic festival in Germany next Saturday, I thought I'd get in on the excitement and add my top 5 acts for weekend 1:

Tame Impala

Dinosaur Jr

Parquet Courts

The National

Fontaines DC

That wasn't easy to pick with so much on the bill! There's plenty of more electronic/dance type acts I'm eager to see as well such as DJ Shadow and Jamie XX, but with it being so long since I've been to a festival, I'm excited for seeing some bands above all else.

I don't do drugs or Caffeine, I just live on the adrenaline and try not to do extreme stuff during the festival hours (sleeping until late morning, travelling inside the city, eating and mostly recovering)

I try to stay up later on the days before, ear plugs in the hotel (have a snoring room mate), chill during the day. Healthy eating from time to time (unless I'm a bit tipsy, I then tend to splurge on hot dogs) and easy on the alcohol. I do go nuts on a timetable and often split sets (to see more bands) so my legs can be quite worn out. I'm actually considering bringing a foam roller/massage ball now that i'm in my forties 😅

Loop from Sagrada Familia down to the beachfront (aim for the Casino), hang a left, run along the seafront, then left through Poblenou and back is just over 5 miles and decent.

Or just run along the beachfront from Forum to W Hotel.

That’s lovely as we’re staying near Sagrada Familia, thanks mate!

With the two main stages being opposite one another, do you get people who stand at the back for the act currently on in preparation of being at the front for the next act when everyone turns round?

What i'm picturing right now seems bonkers - but will actually kinda work?

This reminds me of waiting at the barrier for Arctic Monkeys at one stage whilst watching the screen of Lorde behind me

Given his danceable Evian's sets are, I certainly wasn't expecting it.

Regarding his music: the mashup of ironic trance/trap/Europop bangers and more experimental soundscapes is what I love about it.

Check out this DJ set, hot off the press:

I think it's pretty clear that quite a few of us lost our minds some time ago.

Waiting over 1,000 days for something will do that for you.

Last time we were at Primavera, Boris Johnson was yet to trash the UK, black lives really didn't matter and corona was just a slightly bland beer.

I have a question on behalf of the newbies for the veterans. People have been telling me for years that Primavera is a really amazing festival so I'm glad to finally be going. Music aside (as that's obvious), would you say are the things that make it so exceptional? I'm thinking weather, location, venues, atmosphere etc... what would sum up what makes it so great for you?
