I really wonder whether Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds are gonna drop a surprise release before June. Would make sense given their forthcoming summer tour.

Only now realized that beabadoobee isn't on the poster anymore, she was supposed to play june 2nd and still has it listed on her website, might be a mistake.

Primavera listed in their press release that beabadoobee got dropped, so I bet it's indeed a mistake on her end.

Looks like Grimes is coming with an EP and a double album before June. Not that it really matters since she's only doing a DJ set.

FWIW the mood has changed in Barcelona/Catalunya and despite high case numbers, it's seen that omicron is (relatively) mild and that most of the population is vaccinated, especially the vulnerable.

So they are scrapping covid passports and all other main covid protection measures tonight, except for nightclub restrictions - and even these are expected to fall away in two weeks.

Yeah, it's the same in the Nordics now. Denmark is doing a full reopening next week. And it's expected that Norway will follow soon after. Only a new mutation can stop the festival summer now.

It was always going to happen, when the link between infections and hospitalizations/ICs/deaths was broken by enough vaccinations. Here in the Netherlands we're seeing basically apocalyptic levels of infections (50K+ per day), but only about 10 admissions to IC per day, and more restrictions were lifted this week.

primavera has secret sets and i think she will deffo be one of them.

Well, yes. That was in 2017 with Arcade Fire, HAIM etc. They didn't have any secret sets in 2018 or 2019.

As far as I understand they are still treating this as their "20th anniversary".

One of the Directors had said previously "Like at every anniversary there will be surprises, what is an anniversary without surprises?" and I think there was an even stronger announcement made previously which implied secret sets.

I think there will be some surprise sets (The Smile?) but Grimes I would doubt.

Question about secret sets in general as I've never caught one anywhere, how do you even find out? Staying glued to social media, looking for fake bands on lineups, wandering stages and getting lucky?

In 2017 they announced it in the app. Remember Arcade Fire got announced around 1 hour before they got on stage. Both HAIM and Mogwai got announced earlier, couple of hours.

And Mogwai and Haim were also promoted on the big screens around the festival venue (on the day of their respective shows). So not exactly easy to miss.

Best 'secret' thing they ever did IMO were the self-styled backstage parties in 2017.

Got some pretty big acts like Pond, Algiers, Kelly Lee Owens and Local Natives to play intimate shows for 100 people down by the water.

And with a completely free bar too!

i liked it when shellac played unannounced by the entrance turnstiles one year, about 2pm. glaring sunshine, and they let a little kid play drums.
