Title and possible teaser trailer for SM3 coming today at around 2pm apparently.

Kind of weird that we’re getting all this Spider-Man stuff which isn’t out until December and yet we haven’t had shit for Shang-Chi which as it stands is out in July.

Struggling to see Shang-Chi and Eternals dropping this year as planned. Maybe Spider-Man is more on schedule due to the Sony involvement? Maybe that’s harder to push back given more stakeholders involved. Must be a logistical ball ache trying to get this all in place with the delays.

It's different companies though, Spider-Man is still Sony and the rest of Marvel is Disney. Although Sony has a Venom movie out before Spidey so it is odd there's nothing for that first.

I'd like to see the trailer for Shang-Chi as I'm curious if they doing standard Hollywood action or if it's a proper kung fu movie.

Here's how I'd rank them. I'm also tempted to put in Peggy Carter as that show was great, alot better than Agents of SHIELD.

Avengers: Infinity War (yeah the bad guy wins but he's the main character so it's okay)
Captain America: Civil War
Guardians of the Galaxy
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (the jokes are too forced otherwise I'd rank it above the first one)
Thor: Ragnarok
Spider-Man: Homecoming
Avengers: Endgame (the time travelling to other films sounds cooler than it actually was imo)
Iron Man
Iron Man 3 ( I really miss the AC/DC soundtrack from the other films)
The Avengers
Black Panther
The Incredible Hulk
Ant-Man
Doctor Strange
Avengers: Age of Ultron (this was hard to place as some parts are great whilst other were meh)
Captain America: The First Avenger
Ant-Man and the Wasp
Captain Marvel
Thor
Iron Man 2
Spider-Man: Far From Home
Thor: The Dark World (I liked the bonkers end set piece where everything teleports but that’s it)

Top
1. Winter Soldier
2. Endgame
3. Civil War
4. Ragnarok
5. Avengers

Bottom:
1. Dark World
2. Captain Marvel
3. Iron Man 2

Black Panther, imo, is the most overrated of them all. Certainly felt like more of a moment for black culture than the amazing film it was made out to be on release.

Also felt bad not putting the first Iron Man in the top 5 there as it's a fantastic film, especially now that we've seen what's come since.

She's in Hawkeye too later in the year. I think Falcon and Winter Soldier is only 6 episodes - would it last long enough to run to Black Widow?

And as for Dr. Doom?

But Nic Cage and Cillian Murphy are great shouts!

Big no for Giancarlo as Doom for me, I do like him but he’s basically the same in everything he’s in.

Into The Spiderverse Trumps them all for me. Don't get the hate for Far From Home or Guardians 2, the latter of which could be better than its first one. Iron Man 3 could have broke my top 5 on a different day.

Top 5:

Infinity War/Endgame

Winter Soldier

Captain America

Ant Man

Ragnarok

Bottom 3:

Dark World

Iron Man 3

Age of Ultron

Can’t help viewing Infinity War and Endgame as one entity really.

I don’t think First Avenger gets the credit it deserves. I think it’s an outstanding film and the archetypal superhero origins movie. They really breathed life in to a character that was always a bit “ehh” for me in the comics. Cap’s whole story across the MCU is phenomenal.

Agree with what @jump says about Endgame. Everything up to the “time heist” as great and the final battle with Thanos is pure comic book porn. But the middle sags badly.

It really bugs me as on paper it should have been great. It's basically a greatest hits/clip show of Marvel films which fits with it being the last of the era but yeah, it just gets a bit too dull at times. Maybe it's because they chose Dark World as one of the movies to revist which seems to be the movie everyone dislikes and a different movie would have helped it.

I agree with Guardians 2, I think the issue is alot of the jokes come across as trying too hard compared to the first one which always felt natural. I really rate though, it's one of my favourites.

Yall ranking Civil War that highly? Yikes....

IT didn't make my top 5 but I do love it to be fair, its got a lot of flaws but I happily over look them and its probably the one I've seen the most times in relation to how long its been out. Some great moments if you can squint past some of the plot.

Why wouldn’t you? It’s incredible.

It's just such CGI filled trash. Sure I'm not expecting citizen Kane from a comic film, but damn that was disappointing. Feels like there's no real weight to it. Also that airport fight especially was just... eugh.

The second time I watched it , I took a tab of acid and I had some deep theories about what it all meant. But I think I must have put more thought into that than the entire writing team did into the movie itself.

There's "it's good if you turn your brain off", and then there's Civil War. Same applies to End Game: also trash.

Don’t you ever get tired of being wrong?

I think you should watch more films.

It’s a superhero film bruh. If you’re going in to it expecting more emotional heft and deep storytelling than what you got, then more fool you.

But then I’m talking to somebody who decided to take acid and watch Captain America: Civil War, so obviously I’m out of my depth intellectually on this one...

I wouldn't say there's no weight to it as Cap and Tony not liking each other from having different perspectives seems like a logical evolution to be addressed. As well as touching the topic of who's accountable for their superhero shenanigans. It's real failing is it's not accessible to see these points for newbs ike how Iron Man is trying to make up for his various fuck ups from before by doing things a proper way or Cap not trusting the establishment's judgement after SHIELD turned out to be the thing he fought against.

Are there any Marvel films you do like then?

Going for the Sault Black Is/Rise is a double album approach eh? Very sneaky
