An interesting what if...but in that scenario they wouldn't have been pegged back by brexit like the rest of the UK presumably?

Maybe but they would by other issues. On the basis of the last Indy ref. Alec Salmond's conservative oil price estimate which his spending was based on and turned out to be just before we dropped into a commodity bear market we've just come out of. Also his other great plan of forcing through the Royal bank of Scotland merger with ABN Amro to create a Scottish super bank and create an economy like Iceland. I don't see any evidence of these politicians being any more competent than the Tories.

they haven't, but i followed the arguments closely during the 2014 indyref, and got to see all the lies rolled out, often loaded with bnp-type nationalism as thats all the indy campaign has

So you don't see them receiving lies and English bnp type nationalism too?   I see it regularly currently outside my bubble.

As for the oil money being spent for the benefit of future generations, that's not what the article refers to...

"These revenues allowed her to pay off entire workforces in the coal-mining, manufacturing and steel industries, thus destroying these communities. She used around £75bn in oil revenues to help solve the UK’s balance of payments deficit and then sat back and oversaw huge economic growth in the south-east even as the north-east and north-west were twisting in the wind after the redundancy cheques ran out"

if those thing had been paid for another way back then, theres a whole load of other problems, for the economy.

They could just ignore all checks like we do.

the EU wouldn't accept that from a member, plus there's the Copenhagen criteria to meet, big spending cuts or huge tax rises required.

I don't know what any of that is... I'm just talking about checks between Scotland and england if they left UK single market...but yeah if Scotland were to join eu then definitely would need to be a border...build a wall...like in game of thrones

But that means as with other EU members, their goods won't be checked going into England and therefore their exports will hold up and their balance of payments would be at least as good.

I'm still concerned about your irrational scottish anger 🙂

Did you have a mean scottish uncle as a kid, or too many bad nights on the whisky?
