Hmmm I thought he was content enough to stay at Fox News for a spot of whining. My first thought had been Florida's Ron DeSantis, or maybe a test of Richard Osman's theory from a TV show I saw years ago that Ted Cruz would be worse than Trump.

yeah, I don't know...to be honest I don't follow US politics that closely. But as you say could be someone Trump like who is the next republican candidate. The worry is if it is someone like Trump but with actual brains.

France have capped energy price rise to 4%.

Unfortunately they do have a lot of right wing nationalist/racists in France. Socialist parties been pretty much wiped out.

no sitting french president has been re-elected when that president also controlled the govt, for example, sometimes, the pm is the president's placeman, sometimes the pm isn't.

so macron won't get re-elexcted.

But thats it isn't it if she's the only one seen as standing up for the principles of the republic that's why the socialists have moved over and are now voting that way. Macrons trying to get those votes back:

ok...sorry...I couldn't bring myself to watch that video yesterday...I was getting all wound up because the rise of far right nationalism/populism everywhere worries me. I guess with this though the minister is trying to appeal to Le Pen voters by looking more anti-Islam, and Le Pen appealing to more moderate voters. I mean...for me, a liberal lefty, the choice in France is not great. but I would take Macron over Le Pen or any of the other right wing candidates any day. Macron is still favourite to win, but Le Pen is smart, and has shifted a bit to look more moderate as opposed to that nutty Zemmour bloke, and she could do it, like brexit here and Trump in US.

So you happy with the rocketing gas prices for now and way beyond?

Every choice has a consequence...

Indeed and some of those in the US have been catastrophic for their communities.

Is it a surprise that posters here are sympathetic to green issues?

it also would take years before they could start extracting that gas, and we don't know how much there is down there...so will likely not make any siginificant difference to gas prices. What we need is to reduce gas demand, not increase gas supply. Turn down those thermostats, insulate those homes, assist the poor with benefits, replace gas boilers, invest in renewables. Time to get serious about this climate thing.

There isn't really one valid reason to not be fracking right now beyond a bunch of NIMBYs wagging the tail of the Tory party.

This was when they stopped it and what they said at the time...

"Ministers took the decision on the basis of a report by the Oil and Gas Authority (OGA), which found that it is not currently possible to accurately predict the probability or magnitude of earthquakes linked to fracking operations."

Everything government does ends up in disaster or embarrassment. They have literally no idea what they are doing for actual policies so have to resort to this type of thing.

Yeah Blackpool would be bracing for the "big one" if we went ahead with it LMAO...  or maybe Karens tea might get slightly spilt 😛

The government didn't go ahead with it due to a strong tory voting NIMBY movement and backbencher unrest.  The goalposts have recently moved.  Its going to happen if there is viable amounts.

Pardon me if I'd rather listen to the advice of the BGS or the OGA, rather than someone whose comments on fracking make Rees Mogg seem overly cautious 😁

That's obviously not what's just happened is it? They've been given three months to assess any changes to the science.

yeah...in my experience Baz Fish is kind of just an annoying troll who will keep throwing bollocks back at you until you start resorting to insults and eventually hit the ignore button.

you need to give a reason to be fracking? fracking won't change gas prices.
