The longer he stays the better, he’s poison for them now.

Only question is when they’ll ditch him. They all knew he was a bullshitter and a fraud and hitched their wagon to his Brexit train, so their hands are dirty as well, but they all supported the Poll Tax in public 32 years ago and had no qualms about ditching Thatcher.

They'll wait until he has absorbed every last ounce of shit still to come. There's no point bringing anyone new in until it's all gone so that they're not tarred with that brush.

Give it six months and there'll be a new leader with a "look we've changed!" message.

Breathtaking arrogance of Johnson and the Tories to only apologise when they get caught. Civil servants and politicians have known for months these parties were held but said nothing. Suddenly it’s all apologies when the shit hits the fan.

It’s not really an apology though, it’s ‘sorry if you are upset’ etc etc

I’m enjoying the daily drip drip drip.

Plays out well when each day there is more.

The longer the better as the more damage gets done and general public who would normally say “they’re all the same” start to finally wake up and change their tune.

I have a mental image of Cummings sitting at his PC like Mr Burns from the Simpsons eating a pot noodle and deciding what next to leak to the press

So I was right - she’s a stooge for Johnson and the inquiry is a massive waste of time designed to get Johnson off the hook.

If this report is correct she should resign and cite Johnson breaking the ministerial code.

That's not how any of this works.

You're right about the first point about it trying to deflect, doesn't mean she should resign and doesn't mean she doesn't have integrity if she doesn't. Been asked to do a job, does it.

She’s a public servant and if under the course of an investigation she finds evidence of the PM breaking rules and code then she should raise it. If not then she really isn’t fit for the role and should resign. For something this serious she should act.

She’s basically the same as Lord Geidt in that instance.

she'll present the facts....and the facts might not be that bad for Johnson.

Tories are looking a bit fucked at moment. They've got a very damaged leader who they don't know whether to ditch or not because they're not sure the main alternatives could do any better in an election...meanwhile both labour and starmer are looking more and more competent and confident.

Still a long time till next election though.
