Politics in Scotland is crazy now.  The snp supporters mostly vote solely on getting independence irrespective of their dismal record on education, drug deaths health etc.  Meanwhile the unionist voters are still split on the traditional left right and centre parties  . I reckon the snp may be concerned that the pro independence vote is still not above 50%. Sturgeon won’t be keen on a quick referendum if she cant be sure of winning it. It will be the last throw of the dice for her. She will be first minister but hopefully won’t be too quick to call another divisive referendum especially during the recovery from the pandemic.

I remain unconvinced there will be another ref within this term of parliament regardless of whether the snp win a majority. If she goes too early they might lose. That is before you even get into the fact that a) westminister can just say no b) most people seem to not want one within the next few years.

Agree with that. The nationalists will bluster and as usual blame Westminster  for everything that goes wrong but won’t risk losing a referendum. The pro union parties still have a slim voter share majority.  Folk want to see the recovery start, vaccination rolled out and a return to normality.  Apart from the majority of nationalists the rest of the population don’t want to see yet another divisive referendum.

If the SNP have a mandate for a ref then the Tories have a mandate to deny a ref would be better to allow a ref which will be a struggle for the SNP to win then we're in a Quebec situation where the desire for Indy fades away. Because people fear the consequences because there's no Indy free of consequences.

I don’t think he will lose but if Sadiq is voted out then I honestly think Labour could be set for a worse defeat than 2019 in the next election.

If sadiq loses then the country is unequivocally telling Labour to fuck off.

Surely not?

Guido is a renowned far right site, but interesting that it's tighter than previously thought. It seems it's because voters have put smaller parties as their first choice.

It's a pro-indy mandate. Not an SNP mandate. Lots of people voting Green yesterday as they also committed to another indy ref in their manifesto.

Just a reminder of the Non-FPTP reality of Scottish politics.

I wish Scotland would either go independent or stay and vote labour and not these bloody SNP people.

The whole "win Scotland back" is effectively now a dead duck because of Labour's performance in rUK. Even if we did come back to the fold it wouldn't be enough.

need some proper dirt on Johnson, like he faked having covid, or there's a recording of him calling the queen a twat or something.

Dominic Cummins gives evidence to the Health and Science Committee later in the month that could bring up some interesting issues.
