Something to do with less money coming in from advertising and they could make more money from selling productions.

I mean, on this topic, one of the things that keeps being crowed around is that Channel 4 needs more freedom to compete with Netflix. Yet Netflix shows a lot of Channel 4 content on their streaming platform, and more of these might well attract people back to All4 given I can see a lot of people cancelling their Netflix subscriptions during this current cost of living crisis we're facing. Which feels like it undermines the point.

Imo there was a reasonable idea of a good faith debate about what the future should be for broadcasters like Channel 4. The problem is that this government wasn't going to be the right one for it due to the perception they have an axe to grind due to it being very pissy about criticism. GB News whiner Dan Wootton celebrating on Twitter like his favourite football team just won the Champions League kinda plays into that.

I feel like ITV buying Channel 4 would fail to clear monopoly and merger commissions.

I TV Don't Feel feel that, they've told the govt they'd bid

I like the fact George Galloway is now listed as Russia State Affiliated Media on twitter... such a bellend.

For all it's general awfulness, well played on this one Twitter.

Might even be funnier than when they banned Trump

yeah, it's good...but he needs more...needs to offer a better alternative, a better future...because come the next election Johnson will turn on his usual charm and no matter what policies are on offer he will walk it...unless of course the economy is totally fucked which is looking really quite possible.

Don't take this from me. My beloved is finally loved by all. 😉

The state of the socialist party.

Looks like Le Pen concentrating on cost of living crisis and not EU/immigration is working well for her...will be major news for EU if she does win...like another Orban - remain in EU because of benefits, but undermines and blocks everything...and then will possibly have big impact on France/EU policy towards Russia.

Rishi Sunak is such a bad politician.

yeah...he's obviously bright and has got a nice photogenic smile etc...but he kind of came out of nowhere and became chancellor...how long was he a politician before? He doesn't seem too good when under pressure, like recently. Also, he's so mega weathy you could argue he is too out of touch to making decisions on the economy, which has been shown out in his recent spring statement and what is coming for many people with this cost of living crisis.

He became an MP in 2015 so not too long really.

Sunak kind of came out of nowhere to become chancellor though, at least felt like that to me. I had seen him doing some tv during the whole brexit thing, but that's it.

Yeah he did, probably something to do with DC and Sunaks banking history.
