Ha. Yes this. I think what I meant to say was I think Velvet Underground are massively overrated.

Hehe. Again, nope. And more pertinently, first band I ever saw at Glastonbury. First song was Sweet Jane. That'll do me.

Uncontroversial take: Radmac eating crisps into the mic every Saturday morning is the worst thing that's ever happened in the history of radio.

I love Radcliffe, but I heartily endorse this statement.

But think of all the great REM headline moments that we love to recall.

'It rained all morning, and then it cleared up in the afternoon. And that's it, I almost remembered something else, but it's gone.'

Here's one from our new album "Another terrible new REM album"

I liked that one where the guitarist had clearly discovered a new delay peddle and decided to use it on every single song.

I’m intrigued now. I’ve never bought an REM album, or indeed ever listened to one. I’ve always had them down in the ‘worthy but dull’ category and they seem to be rated by *spit* ‘proper music fans’. Can i continue in my ignorance. I’m not really missing anything, right?

You could make a pretty dope REM playlist by ditching all the grandstanding rock tracks (e.g. The One I Love) and focusing on their more wistful, minor key Byrdsy moments (Fall On Me, Don't Go Back To Rockville, Perfect Circle, Near Wild Heaven and so on).

Very much so. I love REM from start to finish, but IRS years >>> Warner Bros years. That sound was way more prevalent in their earlier work.

Fall On Me remains probably my favourite track of theirs.
