I remember Bernard Butler was once asked if Anderson was the best songwriter of the "Britpop" era "he's not even the best songwriter in Suede!" he replied.

Talking of Suede, Coming Up was far more enjoyable than their previous two records.

Suppose that depends on your definition of ‘enjoyable’. More simple hook-laden songs? Sure. But IMO Dog Man Star is one of the best albums of the 90’s that never gets the dues it deserves. Should’ve made them huge but by then people were already too deep in to the larger lad anthems of Oasis so it fell on its arse.

Tellin Stories by The Charlatans is the best album from the Britpop era.

Blurs music has aged terribly.

Pink Floyd are shite self indulgent guitar w*nkery.

Bruce Springsteens voice is awful.

You're gonna need to furnish us with your Power Ballad Top 5, Quarkerson.

I shall give it due consideration. This isn't something that can be rushed.

It's also worth noting that definitions of power ballads vary, so there will likely be questions asked.

Mrs Q now has a pathological hatred of the genre, as the 3 double CD collections released in the early to mid 90s were permanently in my car's CD player.

Can you remember which CDs these were? Curious to see the track listing, and how loose with the definition the compilers were.
