The Weeknd tour moving back to start in summer 2022...

God forbid Ken drops out, this would be a truly galactic replacement. I'm sure it won't happen but still.

I love Kendrick and he's right up at the top of my list but in an objective look at who should be in line for a kingmaking Glastonbury headline slot at time of speaking, Abel is no. 1.

He’s my hope for a wildcard in 2023.

Give me The Weeknd, Bruce Springsteen, and Swift.

Yep. He would crush it as well.

This is a really good recent cover story which gets a better interview out of Abel than I think I've ever seen elsewhere: https://www.gq.com/story/the-weeknd-september-cover-interview — and this excerpt is a buzz. They basically infer he's about to drop his Off The WallThriller.

If he makes 10x 'Don't Stop Til You Get Enough' level anthems then it'll be AOTY.

Social conscious, massive bangers, at the peak of his career. Sign me up. Don't know too much about his attitude, any indication on whether it's big money or nowt with him?

It may just be because I’ve had to hear it on the radio like five times a day at work, but that newest Weeknd song really does nothing for me. Got all the makings of an awesome 80’s synth banger but ultimately falls pretty flat. Didn’t crack the top 10 over here either so maybe I’m not alone in that sentiment.

I think he’s do a good job of headlining though, especially with the more retro sound he’s adopted recently. Would lend itself to an impressive stage show I imagine.

Still salty over him mysteriously disappearing from the lineup in 2013, although I’m gonna assume it’s because he decided he was above that slot/wanted more money as the festival grew nearer so bailed.

The Weeknd is a weird one, he’s got some absolute banger singles over the last few years but I don’t think he’s ever made a really good album. I do think he’d smash a headline slot however, although I’m not sure the festival would go for him and Billie in the same year.

He spent his own money to make the production for the Super Bowl Halftime show. And the halftime show doesnt pay at all.

Not much they can do when Kendrick has dropped out to be fair!

"They didn't turn up. We’re not very forgiving for bands that don’t turn up."

Wonder if Michael feels the same about The Weeknd as he does RHCP? Though obvs he pulled out 2 months in advance rather than last minute.

Doubt that is really a thing.

Even if it was, I don’t think Michael is involved at that level anymore and it would have been a different team booking him anyway.

They deffo still steer clear of RHCP and they’ve cut ties with Paloma Faith apparently for this too.

Are we sure? An extra day for an act that doesn’t cross over with much of the festival at all seems strange.

Separate from the main weekend tickets though, sounds about right to me. Reminds me of say Citadel and Lovebox or the gigs they do near TRNSMT weekend

But that meant we got Bobby Womack instead, and time was obviously running out there.
