LAWKS! It’s the Next Announcement Thread 2022!

I think it’s possible we might get an ‘undercard’ announcement. That’s to say, significant acts except headliners and subs. I reckon the top slots will be a matter of negotiation and waiting to see the state of the world in June 2022 before firm commitments are made. The rest of the bookings will be more reliable.

Just a thought, like.

Actually this raises an interesting question, obviously there is no pattern, so what (if anything) does dictate when the line up is released? Is it the case that they're still organising/negotiating with acts up until they release, or will they be sat on the poster for a while before deciding to release?

If the former perhaps we'll get some crumbs earlier, as they've had a long time to get acts signed up, and a fair few might just be repeated from the planned 2020 lineup?

They should do a Glastonbury advent calendar. Reveal one act every day in December, including one headliner on Christmas Day

Been saying this for years!

Would be great. They could easily just pull 24 artists from a hat and confirm they are happy to be announced in November, then drop one every day!

What would be cooler is if they did this for stage headliners. Starting from the smaller stages and building up to the pyramid.

My proposal was completely random, not necessarily headliners just acts from the bill - could be day one a Pyramid act, day two someone from Avalon, three a Caberet tent performer, day four one of the JP headliners….

Emily - we all know you’re reading… make it happen.

Really striking how early headliner announcements are a fairly recent thing.

Of the 11 in the year before 7 (63%) have been for the last four fests.

But in the last decade only 2016 and 2013 didn't have something before Christmas.

2013 felt extraordinarily dry simply because of the whole stones situation. By March 2013 we were absolutely salivating.

It was incredibly bizarre as the stones were being targeted by all sorts of festivals (coachella included), yet Glastonbury and Hyde Park got them. It was an agonising wait. We knew they were in the mix it just took ages to know they were going to do it.

Yeah but The Stones at Desert Trip ended up being better considering who else was on the line up. And more profitable.

Anyway. I think they should have something ready for this month. There is no lead up to an onsale since theyre saving anything for the the april resale. After the Abbey weekend theyve got nothing going on so a reasonably steady stream of announcements should be a thing.

Now that Worthy Pastures is wrapped up and once the Abbey is done this weekend I would imagine that a few at Glastonbury HQ will be taking a short break, especially with no ticket sale to get ready for.

Not expecting anything for September.

All we normally have to look forward to in September is the ticket sale date confirmation, though we have a very good idea when it will be.

We won't even have that this year.

Have they already said that any available tickets will end up being in the traditional resale slot?

Yeah they said when they pulled the 2021 festival.

They said this time last year that they hadn't had enough returns to make a sale actually viable, doubt there have been many, if any at all, put back in the pot in the meantime.

Yep, this is in the FAQ.

Eeesh. I won't tell that to the 4 who missed out from our group.

You'd imagine there will be a few in the pot after balance deadline day, but can't imagine anyone has returned in the last 12 months.

Unless they have life events that they’ve got going on planned ahead …. Foreign holidays , new kids , weddings … a few things …. But most will give up at balance deadline by not paying I’d agree
