Happy Burns Night everyone. Anyone joining me for a wee dram tonight?

I won't be indulging in haggis though - it's vile!

As it happens I have the perfect Dram that turned up this afternoon I’m the nick of time! 
 

I’ve got a beef stew in oven as we speak but I’ve cheated a bit and used Guinness instead , but hey ho

I was visiting a hospital once and from a ward I heard everyone chanting: 

‘fair fae yer honest sonsie face, great chieftain o the pudding race’

i asked the doctor what’s going on and he told me ‘Oh that’s the Burns unit’

That's so crap that I'm stealing it to send onto a mate of mine (also brother in law, come to think of it) who is both a connoisseur and collector of such specimens of humour.

Didn’t know that one!  For a more contemporary Caledonian literary work I stumbled on a band called Alestorm who are a pirate metal band. A specialist genre of heavy metal blending thrash with folk. They have a song called Fannybaws about a diminutive Scottish buccaneer. Well worth a google!

Usually bring a couple of veggie haggis back over with me whenever I visit Scotland, but given I've not been back since Feb this is my first non-haggi Burns' night in a good few year.

I'm intrigued. Always loved haggis but never had a veggie one. Are they done with yer quorn type stuff, or is it proper veggie lentils and beans and stuff?

I was in Edinburgh for Burns last year. My first trip to Scotland and my last trip anywhere!
