No they did not! Didn’t get chance to visit it once the music kicked off. The were working on it on the Wednesday and maybe Thursday too(?)

I went on the Saturday when the Park stage was packed, walked straight on, this was the view from the end...

If you do end up volunteering I can't see you ever wanting to buy a ticket again. Until experienced, nobody can imagine the pleasure of being on site during the last few days before the show opens. Many crew say that those days are the best part of the festival.

Obviously I'd say absolutely go for it.

I agree .... and @crazyfool1i really do think you should try to volunteer, don’t look At what you’re losing, you will absolutely gain so much from the experience and being onsite earlier etc etc etc

I was totally blown away last festival at volunteering, life changing, a whole new amazing utterly brilliant group of friends have been made and I now know that as long as I am able , and get the opportunity I will hopefully be a volunteer.

I would love to volunteer - genuinely, I've had various volunteer jobs at different times in my life.

However, my current job just doesn't permit me any more time off than I can get (even the Wednesday/Thursday has become difficult!). We had someone in on a temporary basis a few months ago, who volunteered every year and led one of the campsite teams - he was a very inspiring individual!

I totally realise how lucky I am to get all the time off I need, I’ve worked for my boss for years and my team all know it’s the most important time in my calendar . I’ll never take Christmas , Easter etc and will be last in the queue for any other time but June. 🙂

I absolutely loved volunteering in 2019. As others in the thread have said, the extra time on site is such a gift. I was on site Monday to Monday last year. Getting a full week at the festival really makes it feel like a proper holiday... yes, even with the shifts.

I really wish you could attend for 7 days as a punter as well haha!

Watching the last few bits of the festival come together on Monday/Tuesday, exploring the site and the crew bars, and just the general sense of anticipation and excitement... it's magic.

I really like idea of volunteering. If the priority system works, it’s possible to ensure your place at Glastonbury in February or March. Imagine that?!! No worries about ticket sale queuing, on soulless ticket sites!!!!! All of that over and eradicated by February!!!!

Below is from an update the Access Steward team have posted and reminds you whenever it's next on it's going to be amazing!

But, as Michael and Emily have said,

“Can you imagine the absolute thrill at being the very first large-scale show to take place after one of the worst epidemics of the last 300 years? You better believe it!”

I can only apply for oxfam because of the proximity of camping to car parks and will need to sort out better sleeping arrangements with back issues .... but as soon as that opens I will ..... I dont know of any others with carparks in close proximity ... probably people on here do though ...

I like the Oxfam arrangement. I noticed the campsite’s just outside Gate B. The festival’s become so big, it looks like it might be worth going through a gate or two, just to keep up with it.

I don’t have a car and I’ve never been given a lift to the festival. It seems stupid not to explore these places.

i volunteered last year, with Oxfam, and it was that good an experience that i just havnt bothered trying to get punter's tickets - i think its actually better as a volunteer.

parking and set-up is an absolute breeze, extra time on site, quiet staff bars you can sit and relax and put your feet up, the only downside is working your shifts (obviously!) but they arent too bad at all - and im not really at Glastonbury for the music anyways, i'm there for all of the everything and its easy to reschedule, slow down a bit, and see what you like. Theres other stewards to socialise with if you want to, or you can meet up with your mates and have a good ol time anyways - it would be such a pain in the arse to go back to standard camping, no showers, no staff bars, the car being miles away from your tent, carrying everything miles just to set up . . . nah, oxfam have me for the foreseeable now!

@crazyfool1 when I have the details confirmed in January I will let you know!!! We have a consultant 2 physiotherapists and 2 A and E doctors on our team!! And a few lifeguards!! Oh and two mechanics!!!  All areas covered!!! 🤣🤣🤣

ive been described as nuts a few times and the odd screw loose so those mechanics might be able to do a job on me 🙂  ... I will definately need to sort some decent sleeping arrangements though if its going to be longer something ive not yet mastered in all my Glastonburys

I rolled over a week, I understand you can roll over up to 10 days , but your employer can divide this up as two lots of 5 days over two years

The law allows for up to 20 days to be rolled over into either (or a combination of) 2021 or 2022.

But it seems that lots of employers are being selective as to how much of that (if any) they make available to employees hence the huge disparity - I know of people who've been allowed to take full advantage of the law, and I know people who've been told none whatsoever. That's the problem when the legislation on the subject has been drafted (probably deliberately) in such a vague way.

I was initially told I could only carry 5 days across, and after protesting it I've been allowed to roll 10 days over but only as far as December 2021.
