Scary aint it.

Could still go either way - if they can't get govt backing for an insurance fund then they'll make the call much earlier this year I reckon before they commit and potentially loose even more money. It will also matter which other outdoor events are given the all clear - the govt can't let Cheltenham go ahead again just because some key MP's are members of the Jockey Club and then ban all festivals without some fairly serious negative PR.

Exactly this. I'm still hopeful G-2021 can go ahead. Think Easter may be the turning point.

By God, we'll need some release after the year 2020has been and Brexshit in January.

I cling on to every hope that it can go ahead but, honestly, I'd be really surprised if it does.  To plan something like this, they need clear messaging from the government about what's likely to happen and clear support in case it cannot and there's just very little chance of that with this lot.

Racing has been going ahead for months. Cheltenham will happen - the only issue is how many punters they allow in.

Difference being that you don't have to spend two months building a racecourse before it can run.

If you'd asked me a month ago I was confident that it would go ahead. I don't think so now. I suspect that they will have to make the call quite early in the year if the govt don't stump up some sort of cancelation insurance (and there are few Tory votes in Glastonbury, Glyndebourne..)
