Should live albums count for AOTY lists?

Something like Idiot Prayer can, I think, as it's a single performance and new arrangements.

A standard live album made of spliced cuts from multiple gigs, or standard live renditions of tracks without anything new  being added, not so much.

Dylan??? Yuck

Uncut have it at no.1 too. It's an unwritten rule that if Bob releases an album that isn't terrible, it'll get top spot in those 2 mags (among others).

Yeah I'm with @Quark on this - if they're new arrangements, fine. You can view them as a sort of re-recording; this one doesn't even have crowd noise.

OK. I'll bite.  What gives here? Cornershop are a consistent delight.

To me they’ve always just been the Brimful of Asha band and I’m only learning now that they’ve been consistently releasing albums since then, and that they’re apparently AOTY list worthy.

Playlist of Uncut's 75 best albums of the year here.

Song selections based on Uncut's reviews, and to avoid overlap with the Mojo list.

I found someone else had started doing this, but they'd only got to 30 and some of their track selections were off.

Some great stuff on each of these lists that was new to me.

Nice, 4 of my favourite TOTY in that one.

Not bad but some typical basic 6music choices in there. Nice to see the BC Camplight album getting some recognition. Liked that album a lot but it seemed to go largely unnoticed upon release.

edit: just noticed no Laura Marling in there which is surprising. Wonder who she’s pissed off over at the beeb.

I listened to the list as almost each DJ had a pick for the top 10? So while IDLES was up there across 6Music, no one DJ had it as their single #1 album.

Either way some interesting stuff up there. Of the 10 I think Doves is the only one in my longlist at the moment.
