Gilgamesh69
Well, someone had to make it eventually... Who do we reckon will be returning next year? Who from the 2020 lineup is touring next August? I think Kiwanuka and Caribou will be their most important headliners for next year, with Mac DeMarco being replaceable if something better comes up

GM's website say they'll be announcing news re tickets and line up in the Autumn. I think we ought to assume for now that the three headliners will remain the same. Mac is scheduled to be in Europe in August, including over GM weekend (OFF and Paredes) Caribou is also scheduled to be in Europe in August (Vilnius and OFF). Kiwanuka is also active right before GM weekend and seems the most obvious headliner that they would try and keep. Other non-UK artists/bands that could return as they appear to be active: Agnes Obel (as you mentioned in the other thread) Sandy Alex G is down for Paredes 2021 Viagra Boys also down for Paredes 2021 Potential non-returners: Lucinda Williams is scheduled to play in the U.S. in August (could still make it to GM...) Likewise for Nap Eyes. I think it was @benali who mentioned that Ty Segall is playing in the U.S. in August. I'm sure someone else will have seen some other news regarding others on last year's line up. GM's twitter activity suggests Roisin Murphy and Arlo Parks might be possible additions. I hope so, but I get the feeling that with the current situation and rise in cases, they might hold off on announcing anything until it's more appropriate to do so. There's been a few festivals that have said stuff like "we hope to make another announcement by [date]" and then not followed through with it I for one, am really hoping that Goldfrapp, Thundercat, Parquet Courts, Murder Capital, Sudan Archives and Porridge Radio all return! JHad
Of this year's line-up those I'd highlighted as must sees (based on the fact I've never seen any of them) were Alabaster Deplume, Do Nothing, Goldfrapp, Michael Kiwanuka, Moon Duo, Otoboke Beaver, The Murder Capital, Thundercat, Tropical Fuck Storm and Ty Segall and Viagra Boys, so I'm hoping they all return. Just had a look back at the 2020 poster now, probably for the firs time in 6 months and remembered just how deep the line-up was. I also hope all of Black Midi, Sudan Archives, Nadine Shah, Richard Dawson, Bambara, Vanishing Twin, The Orielles, Working Men's Club, Porridge Radio (!!!!), Sinead O'Brien, Katy J Pearson and Lazarus Kane return too. I've had no gigs rearranged for August yet, but will keep my eyes peeled for any possible additions. Assuming the obvious, I suspect the line-up will be 80% the same. What do you guys think? SweepingTheNation
All festivals will be trying to get their 2020 lineups back in full, which is a double-edged sword even without considering how cagey for various reasons non-Brits will be about coming here, because it means nobody who's done anything notable in the last six months or is planning a new album rollout between now and then will potentially get a look-in. The process for artists creating albums has been significantly slowed down, and the general output this year has been less than voluminous (away from freaks like John Dwyer and Daniel Romano) so I can't see there being not enough spaces for acts. Ultimately, I reckon the proportion of acts dropping out of touring next summer will be more or less evened out by a reduced number of acts embarking on summer festies in 2021 to promote new releases. For Green Man, the likes of Sleaford Mods, Goat Girl, Julien Baker - who might not have been scheduled for summer 2020 - likely won't have a problem securing a place at GM or EOTR despite the fact. Do you mean in general or like where they’d play if they were at GM? Either way I have no idea haha. Neither of them have played live in ages right? Particularly Sweet Trip who barely ever played anyway. Feel like it would be a pretty huge deal if Sweet Trip came to the U.K. but maybe that’s just me. lessthanwill1
GM started following Courtney Barnett recently on Twitter. Headlined EOTR last year but that was because Beirut pulled out. She was second down in Far Out back in 2015.

Yoss
Stella Donnelly seems to have Green Man listed in her gig dates on her bandcamp page. https://stelladonnelly.bandcamp.com/
Chawk
I'm not sure if that's a glitch, as on the GM 2021 Songkick Father John Misty, Eels, and Stella Donnelly are listed (all 2019 acts)
Gilgamesh69
Feels like such a tease to see I've got a notification or email from Green Man, only for it to just be something about their store.

SweepingTheNation
That makes sense. The time in advance where festivals will have to make a decision is going to have to be a lot earlier for their own finances' sake - Parklife, which was set for the second weekend in June, just moved to September - and I suspect that means having to use informed guesswork as to the likelihood of happening when the date can't be easily moved maybe six months or a little more in advance, because while the situation is likely/hopefully going to be different in mid-January/February it still won't be near cleared so assumptions will have to be made about the public vaccine rollout and its effect, plus whether the DCMS' inquiry into how festivals can survive produces anything in time in terms of financial or insurance support.
