To think that this is the guy that Trump is using to try and get the election overturned. Just the last month this guy has had his appearance in Borat, the Four Seasons thing and now this. Clearly you have to have absolutely no shame to go up there and spout such bullshit, and clearly he’s the only one as batshit as Trump to still be doing it with no sense of irony or self awareness.

... funnily enough, also read yesterday that Trump regards having no shame whatsoever as being a massive advantage in getting ahead. The said that if you take EVERYTHING really personally, you'll always win in the end because no-one will give quite as much of a shit as you do.

I think the Borat thing has gotten to him. That followed by the election drubbing have clearly caused him to go extremely mental in the head.

I was reading last night that a lot of people in the UK had quite a favourable impression of Guiliani just after 9/11, given the TV coverage of him striding through the rubble and scattered paper of Manhattan after the WTC Twin Towers came down.

Apparently though, he was just as barking then, and there was a  reason he was always seen walking up and down the streets.

A couple of years previously, he had insisted on his mayoral administration's Emergency Response  coordination offices and control centre being situated in WTC building 7. He was repeatedly warned that it was a dopey idea to site such a response centre in a high value target, given the earlier serious terrorist attempt on the complex a few years previously.

His disregarded those warnings, and when 9/11 happened, he actually had nowhere to go and coordinate the response, hence him being seen outside most of the time.

Wow that presser was something else. Up there with the most ridiculous stuff we’ve seen post election.

Giuliani is just a cartoon character at this point. I don’t mean this an insult or a joke - I seriously think that guy has some quite serious mental health issues. He was always a bit whacky, but he seems like he’s totally lost his mind now.

Rudi has been all-in with Trump for ages. He knows he's got nowhere to go when it's over so he's going to ride that train as long as he can.

Must admit I was one of those at the time ... can’t remember why though and if I thought about it much at the time to make those assumptions:(

This is literally how the crazy lot feel tho. They feel like absolutely everyone is “in on something” that they are sworn to secrecy to protect.

as if people could keep a secret like that.

Republican America is a lot like North Korea. Blindly believing what their leaders are saying without any question. As soon as anyone says differently it’s met with disbelief.

Just looking at some comments on social media about it, there’s either widespread trolling or there’s a lot of very dumb gullible people out there who honestly think there’s a huge conspiracy against them.

His elevation then was mainly down to a psychological need to find positives at times like that and the requirement for some kind of hero.

Trump ended up under the Russians when they swept into New York and replaced the traditional mafia who he had previously dealt with - which all happened under Giullani's watch (in the 90s after communism fell).

Read something this morning that apparently Fox News ratings are down by nearly 40% since election night. Clearly Trump’s base aren’t liking them ditching Trump and calling out his fumbled coup attempt.

This is also evident on Reddit, a huge swathe of the right wing userbase has exited for the Parler platform.  It seems like the response of being presented with evidence of reality has been to exodus to somewhere they won't be equally troubled by people telling them the truth.
