So sad. RIP Toots and thanks for the music. 

Never got to see him live, hung around W Holts in 2017 and then I would have been at Bearded Theory this year.

Gutted to hear the news of this. Toots were a massive part of me growing up and I was excited to see them at glastonbury and then later on next year in Nottingham. got myself a little collection of Red Stripe and the Hi Fi system playing out for the night

So sad. I have a lovely festival memory of seeing him on a sunny afternoon on the main stage at Electric Picnic. It was such a great atmosphere - he just radiated positivity and joy.

The 2010 set on West Holts will forever be one of my favourite festival sets. Perfect weather, great atmosphere, and they totally delivered. It made up for when I missed them in 2004 because everyone else wanted to see McCartney. Macca was good, but I know which would have been more fun!

They even paid tribute to Toots on the Tour De France highlights show on Saturday, which was particularly poignant as number 54 won the stage.

My first concert was in 1975.  Toots and the Maytals warmed up The Who.  I enjoyed them but The crowd was obnoxious and basically chased Toots off the stage screaming for the Who.  This was back before reggae was really a thing in the US.  I always hoped to catch them somewhere down the line in a more favorable setting.  Never happened.  Rest in peace.

Sad news - I did not realise how much of a pioneer (founder!!) he was for reggae. 

Caught the end of the 2010 set. And for the 2017 set, we drank at the brothers bar and got totally wasted, expecting him to turn up at any time.
