2022 Festival

Pure hope but The Story So Far are over for Slam Dunk in June (and Parker’s other band No Pressure are here that week too) and I’d love for them to be the other Pit headliner that is yet unannounced. There’s few bands I would miss AM for but TSSF is one of them.

Get me a Paolo Nutini secret set. I've never managed to catch him live before

Can’t see it at Reading. Think the audience is a bit young to appreciate Nutini.

Agreed - i told my glastonbury group (20-21 year olds) he was TBC for that and nobody knew he was out of 7 people who all listen mostly to indie. No albums for 8 years means he's completely lost the audience i think (I can't say I knew who he was either really until he was announced for TRNSMT a few months ago)

The TRNSMT lineup is a thing of beauty. Paolo headlining the Friday and The Snuts subbing the Saturday. Incredible

Never got the Paolo hype even when he was big. Not for me. appreciate how big his return is though

He was never actually ‘big’ was he?

3rd at best at proper festival bills (outside of Scotland) I reckon

He's never been big, I'd describe him as 'somebody else you'd have on your iPod'.

In that I mean Pencil Full of Lead came out when I was 17/18, his biggest song, it was a song I had on my iPod but would skip it 80% of the time looking for Mr Hudson/Jay Z, Biffy Clyro, Tinchy Stryder, Chipmunk, Black Eyed Peas, Jay Z/Alicia Keys etc. If the song came on 4musics charts I'd listen and enjoy it. I was THE most generic music enjoyer at the time too, and even to me it was "just another song".

Same here, I’ve never actively listened to him or know a soul who has a actively listened to him/ ever shown an ounce of interest in him  yet would no doubt recognise a fair few songs if I heard them

Seems to have decent Spotify numbers though…

Last request has about 3x the amount of Spotify plays, I was only about 4 when it came out but it's been played everywhere on film and TV but I agree can't see him getting booked. Speaking of Scottish singers with guitars though, was watching a video of Gerry Cinnamon from last year and forgot how much of a huge crowd he got

I'd wager because it's the one song that you hear on repeat when you're on hold for 2 hours that is relatively catchy, so you look it up and play it once.

Before collapsing into a wreck of PTSD for waiting on hold.

No Pressure are currently my favourite band quality songs

That Saturday looks tasty - Strokes, Foals and Fontaines.

Very surprised however, that in 2022 Sam Fender is subbing Paolo Nutini.

Foals and Sam Fender are two huge subs honestly.

Well I believe that Sam Fender is billed as a very special guest so in essence a co headliner like The 1975 were in 2017

Massive, and Sam will draw a bigger and livelier crowd than Paolo.

Paolo Nutini is TRNSMT's Fall Out Boy in 2018 moment.

They will both have huge crowds, its hardly going to be FOB level of crowd exodus

Carolesdaughter has announced some gigs around R&L at Glasgow (King Tut's), Manchester (Dead Institute) and London (Courtyard Theatre). With them all being around 300 capacity, could that mean the bigger acts for the Pit that day are still TBA?

I think you're forgetting that this is not only his first show in about 7 years, but also it's in scotland, where he is much bigger than anywhere else in the UK.

That being said I have no idea how they got Sam Fender to sub, 100% expected him to headline next year along with Gerry Cinnamon.

Sam is a 'special guest'. Not sure if it's like Reading where the special guests are first on?

Hope so, could do with a good few more decent bands in there.
