Here’s a left field question, do we know if Camden Brewery will be the beer of the festival again?

Was mint being able to get a Camden Hells and Pale at every single bar, much better than the likes of Carlsberg at R+L.

I don't organise the event 😝

I would of thought they'll update the website the next few weeks ready for an announcement so all details of sponsors and partners like breweries will be visible.

I do appreciate a festival that puts on different beers and not just shitty lager and cider.

For me Tramlines if a similar undercard will be about The Magic Gang, Easy Life, DMA's, The Sherlocks, Reytons etc.

These will more than make up for week Headliners.  Its about the weekend not the Headliners.  We were spoilt in2019 as all 3 were fantastic in their own ways.

I love a good headliner announcement and I used to be pretty obsessed by the fact I needed headliners I liked..... I then realised at festivals I get very drunk and sometimes forget them anyway! Enjoy your days out; drink and laugh with friends, explore new people and take everything else as a bonus

Agreed, all about the undercard. Just booked the Saturday for a day session with some mates. We will probably by 9.30pm be on our arse... so doesn’t matter who headlines.

If the reports are to go as suggested then it's off until 2022.

If today they do say a vaccine passport or proof of test Is needed then this can easily be brought in before the festival other countries are starting to make apps and test are easily available

The festival will be on, I hope

The vaccine passport isn't going to be sorted by all accounts until everyone is fully vaccined. I'm also reluctant on the current stats given it's easter weekend. I want to wait until next thursday and friday to see the catchup if any

This should of been announced before people started buying tickets for any festival. Many people don't want to be vaccinated or tested, let alone being forced to.

Also vast majority of festival goers are under 50, thats the age group that hasn't started yet. So even if they start now, it's going to be incredibly tight for the 2 jabs by July.

Also I read reading/leeds organisers want you to do a test virtually, whilst a doctor is on video call. That's a great way to use a doctor, you will also be charged £30. Again vast majority of the reading/leeds crowd are under 25, they certainly won't have both jabs by August Bank holiday.

It's just not organised.

The vaccine passports and gov announcements has nothing to do with Tramlines releasing the line up this late. Covid has delayed most festival announcements but that's music industry politics for the most part. They are planning to go ahead until they told they can't.

I'm half expecting July events to start cancelling soon and August events more likely to go ahead. It's getting to a point when organisers have to start paying out for things and there is no covid cancellation insurance.

Why would they cancel though? Enough people have been vaccinated and would probably sell out anyway. I bet people will be vaccinated by July.

As much as it’s harsh (none of my mates have been vaccinated), events will want to continue even if some haven’t had the chance to be vaccinated as some need the money ie 2000trees - if younger adults can’t get a vaccine by then, I suppose it’s tough, you either allow businesses money through the passport system this summer, with potential they might not be around after or you unfortunately stop younger people who haven’t been vaccinated attending for one summer.

I definitely think everyone will be by then but I don’t get festivals cancelling when other people can take there tickets and they can rake the income. I don’t think businesses care who attends now, they need the cash injection.

Festivals will have to start paying out for things soon, if they haven't already. Why would they take a risk if the government still don't give an indication if larger events can go ahead. The ticket money sits in escrow accounts not in organisers bank accounts, so they don't see that money until the event happens.

There is no insurance if they have to cancel and it relates to covid. Events are already out of pocket with all the marketing and freelancers they are having to pay at the moment.

Considering a group of vaccinated adults couldn't socialise over Easter is there much hope for 10s-of-thousands of strangers in a field with no masks and social distancing in the next few months? I'm all for opening up now with or without under 40s vaccinated, the vulnerable are vaccinated.

Events could well go ahead as planned but its far from certain, I'd say July events at this point are more likely to get cancelled than go ahead. It's not just about things reopening, its about the organising and time-frames. Otherwise Glasto could of gone ahead. Just look at the Boomtown Fair organiser's statement and the cost/risk of these events as an example.

What happened to getting tested 48 hours before the event I don’t understand how we have been told festival season will take place to then say it’s not going to take place for everyone would result in a lot of refunds I just can’t see this happening

No one said the festival season was definitely happening, festival organising are planning events up until they can't. Much like summer holidays. Nothing is certain at this point and at no point has the government or organisers said events will happen on a given date, there is a roadmap but them dates are the earliest things can happen not the latest. The gov then later extended covid powers until Sept, if needed. Organisers are hopeful they can put events on.

I'm not saying any event is cancelled or will be, just don't be shocked if July events start cancelling.

That's why I said quite early that the promoters have taken advantage knowing that nothing was guaranteed but it sets them up for a 2022 sellout. Of course it's not organised but it's securing music promoting bookers place in the industry.

Reading and Leeds will have to everything they can because they know the typical age that attends there unfortunately probably haven't listened to a lot of the rules etc. 18 years olds don't want to be told to stay in etc etc.

After the next info, I think everything upto start of August will be out paid to. July is virtually gone I feel.

Exactly this. All that's happened it the government have subtly given promoters the go ahead to sell out. As soon as I read that the new info I was like July is gone. I think middle August is too.

For everything JBarbour has said is exactly why I've not purchased my Trees ticket. The majority ticket holder won't be fully vaccined by a week after this event. I already have a ticket wrapped up in an August festival plus a BA flight voucher due to covid to rebook.

Tonight will tell us more.

This in a nutshell. The only insurance there is that incandescent see if for holidays. Companies are doing covid covered holidays or they won't sell anything.

I tried to say this point from the off. Too many people jumped on it like the dates were all a given.

Well if 2021 is doomed (which feels likely) hopefully they wipe the slate clean and start afresh lineup wise.

would be nice to get a proper landmark lineup to celebrate the return of the festival not the very meh lineup (imo) that was being planned for this year.

would never happen but imagine if they got AM!

It depends on the deals they have done with agents and acts. I think most festivals will just carry over line ups. Not forgetting most festivals have sold out or close to based on previous line ups or no line up announcements.

There is no need to spend extra money on "landmark" line ups when there is high demand for festivals with average line ups, it will be quite the opposite if anything. Festivals will get away with below average line ups with such high demands to attend events.

They had their chance to book AM when they first moved to Hillsborough. It was apparently a seven figure fee the band got offered, I'm not sure how accurate that is though. The band turned it down and then applied to do their own shows at Hillsborough (later deciding on an arena tour). The SJM licence is still open for a three day event at Hillsborough, so it's likely the band will play the park at some point, just not under the Tramlines header.

They will do nothing to make that lineup stronger whether this year or next. There is literally no point especially in a financial sense now.

Arctic Monkeys as far as it goes atm for me are probably doing Glastonbury next year along with Hillsborough gigs.

Architects are talked about for subbing but I think it's way more realistic that they sub Download if they choose to next year than Reading. I'll go as far as saying that if Reading doesn't happen this year then they will not have them next year as this becomes to said 2022 sellout and gives Fest Republic nothing to do other than organize the setup etc.

A few years ago, Werchter sold out a day early and people were saying I hope they add this sub etc.... They didn't because it's sold and they don't need to. Werchter also book and announce early as do a lot of festivals so if they do need that extra bigger band they can do so to push but if sold out all a promoter is doing is wasting money.

Yeh definitely agree there’s no incentive for a landmark lineup, as a subpar one will sell out regardless but a man can dream.

Yeah be good to have a fresh line up I suppose, its hard to get excited for festival announcements when you know 80%+ acts are the same.

I think I'm be more looking forward to beers in a field with friends and seeing some up and coming bands when I can get to an event.
