So sadly, it’s probably all going to just blow over in the coming weeks and months with no real repercussions.   

I think there's a perfectly strong chance that this was a powerplay to see what they could get from the threat. Punish them, eat the short term consequences, and make it clear there's no forgiveness. They shouldn't be allowed to come crawling back and have that same power and influence. 

The power these clubs wield isn't fair on the rest of the football pyramid. The real fans will suck up any punishment, the glory hunters can go cry. If this is left without a meaningful response they'll just keep trying this sort of bullshit.

It wasn’t just a bluff as some seem to think. You don’t sign contracts and make moves that alienate your entire fan base if you don’t intend to see it through.

Any club that plays goal music should automatically be closed down. Far further up the priority list than the circumstances surrounding the awarding of the World Cup to Qatar.

There’s a potential punishment for all the clubs involved which doesn’t hamper the competition or punish the fans. 
 

The 12 clubs should still be allowed to play for Euro competitions should they qualify but they are ineligible to collect any prize money for a number of years. 
 

The teams still get to play for the chance of glory of being the winners, the fans get something to cheer for. The owners get nothing. 
 

You’ll soon see whose in it for the glory and whose in it for the money.

It’s finding the right punishment though. An outright ban from European competition would just tip their hand towards splitting even further.

Forcing them to sell is the only answer.

The 50+1 rule is the only possibility I think, not sure they can be forced to sell up outright.
If they can manage to get that through somehow, then this will all have been worth it.

I can't see any split away happening with English clubs after this week.
