Homer
People don't seem to be bothering much in Glastonbury. I didn't go to the pub but I was in a shop yesterday and I was the only person out of five customers wearing a mask.

Unfortnately the residents are generally convinced that there is no virus, it is all made up for mind control / government imposed microchipping of individuals etc. Usual sort of shite spouted by the anti 5G brigade. Normal for Glastonbury...........

For some reason I think compliance is probably better in them than corner shops / small shops

The guy on the door at the Co-op on the high street was letting people in without masks on Friday saying 'bring it next time'.

Madyaker
Mask uptake not so great in Ireland either thanks to much mixed messaging from the government. They announced that masks were mandatory in indoor areas last week and I’d say it’s up at around 50% now with zero enforcement. The pubs and clubs are still shut until August 10th and I don’t have much hope of them opening then either.

Private premises, condition of entry is dictated by the premises owner. No face covering, no entry, enforced by the store is perfectly valid. Same as trespass and escorting people off land/premises, up to the property owner to dictate who has entry - police only in attendance to ensure no violence/BoP....property owner has to escort the person not obeying whatever conditions they decide out of the premises. Think we might be at crossed wires here ... the policies of the supermarkets that I’ve seen will be that they won’t be doing anything .... it’s a police matter and they won’t be putting colleagues at risk over it

There's no way that I would risk my liberty by robbing a bank (which robs us) of its money. I must confess though that I'd love to be a fly on the wall on a security vault job. I mean, opening each safe would be like going back to the old days, when you could buy a 'lucky bag' - only the contents of the safes would be much more interesting. I’ve been in London for a long weekend seeing a relative and everywhere I’ve been mask compliance has been 90-100% where they have been mandatory. But I’ve definitely realised way more people in London are wearing them than where I live (a much smaller town). Most people in London are just wearing their masks out and about on the street to be honest, which is really good to see! That's their decision, but the police have also stated that they will not be enforcing or attending unless absolutely necessary as they do not have the capacity. But most larger retail premises have security officers .....are they too instructed to ignore? I can understand not requiring retail staff to enforce anything but are they selectively choosing which areas of the law to enforce? Would they simply ignore a shoplifter? When I went to Tesco’s in london the security guard at the entrance was enforcing the mask policy and was making sure people were wearing them.... So I’m not sure whether security officers are supposed to be enforcing the policy or not, but I’m glad the security officer at Tesco was enforcing it as it meant most (95% of) people inside were wearing them.
