Glastonbury’s greatest unsolved mysteries.

I now know why Micheal Eavis has his beard styled in his iconic fashion.

I’ve been growing a lockdown beard and ‘tache and the amount of food and drink I’ve got caught in my bristles has been unbelievable. Soup and wine in particular are very messy. I’m fine drinking from a bottle or can but as soon as I try to drink from anything wide brimmed I end up with liquid dripping from around my chops.

So in order for the Eavis to maintain proper decorum while entertaining the higher class of guest he needs to keep his facial hair away from his mouth.

I went to the Wombles and confirm they were better than U2.

I sent a text to a mate during the set saying similar.

"Could teach U2 a thing or two", I think I phrased it.

It was a bit of a let down, rain & cold that evening, plus we went too hard the previous two days it made an excuse to head to bed early as we were knackered from mud (great decision as the sun came out Sunday). Plus I realised I only know about 5 songs of theirs. They weren’t bad though?

I met Professor Schales from Fresh Meat too.

I studied Geology at university, pretty much all the lecturers had that style of 'no moustache - just beard' facial hair. We always referred to it as a 'geologist's beard' but maybe all those old guys were just Eavis fanboys.

I studied Geography & can confirm this. The Geologists were an odd bunch.

WARNING, STEREOTYPE BELOW

I wonder how many people studied geology because they found rocks fascinating were surprised post graduation that they:

  • Earned more money than most of their peers that studied other subjects.
  • Had to live on an oil rig.

I found the Geologists very introverted, much like Howard from Fresh Meat. Never wanted to socialise or go for nights out despite always being invited.

100 of us went on a field trip to Ireland, same coach & ferry, & I only ever remember seeing them once throwing up in the Irish sea on the way there.

I love limestone karst scenery.
