Paul Kalkbrenner closes the main on Saturday, Hives play before Balthazar.

Stormzy headliner, playing before Marshmello

Doesn't make it massively better for me really.

I think Stormzy wil be great. Last time he played he smashed it. Excellent set. And that was back when he was still playing in daytime. Actually makes me consider Pukkelpop...

@Death By Sexy

Seen a lot of news about flooding in Limburg, is it bad where you are?

No problems at my town, just some little creeks, but that happens everytime it rains heavily. No problems at Pukkelpop either, yesterday they have built "the skeleton" of the Marquee and Club.

The floodings are far worse at the Belgian-Dutch border of Limburg and especially in Wallonia (Liège). 15 people dead in Wallonia and numerous houses and bridges were destroyed. It's possible that there will be worse floodings at the Belgian-Dutch border in Limburg, but it will not affect the rest of Limburg.

Happy to see many artists playing UK and Belgium/Netherlands during the same weekend. This gives me some hopes.

Sadly for me, this probably rules out Black Midi (the addition I was expecting more), cause they're playing both Lowlands and Green Man's Saturday.

Let's see what comes.

On FB in several languages:

Pukkelpop asks federal government for clarification
The unexpected changes, announced by the authorities last Monday, have major consequences for the further organization of Pukkelpop.
The festival organization is now urgently calling on the federal government for clarification. In anticipation of this, work on the grounds will be suspended for the time being.
Pukkelpop is confident that this clarity will be provided shortly.

So the reason for Pukkelpop's full stop yesterday was a supposed change in rules for big events, making it impossible for them to go on with this capacity. However, the Belgian government quickly shut them down, saying that nothing changed for PKP, and that they're making a big media fuss about something that could've been cleared up internally in just a few minutes.

Rumour now has it that PKP is looking for a reason to cancel the festival without losing the government bailout and without looking like the bad guys.

This all sounds like they were pushing too hard. I think the situation never really allowed for festivals this year and they should‘ve just accepted that.

Yep, they should've gone for either something toned down or nothing at all. But they really wanted to cling on to that 65k promise made back in May...

Belgian health minister added this morning that "Pukkelpop should just cancel if they cannot guarantee the required logistics". No idea what that would mean financially though, as Pukkelpop can simply not comply due to overplaying their hand on the capacity.

Minister Vandenbroucke: "If Pukkelpop cannot meet the conditions, it will not work"

Federal Minister of Health Frank Vandenbroucke (Vooruit) repeats that the rules for festivals are simple. "I understand that it is not easy to make that happen. The assessment is up to Pukkelpop. If Pukkelpop cannot meet it, it will not go ahead," he says in "The morning" on Radio 1.

If you want to go to a festival, you have three options: either you have been fully vaccinated, or you have a negative PCR test result of a maximum of 48 hours old, or you have a negative rapid test of a maximum of 24 hours old. So it has to be repeated every day. For Pukkelpop, that is a tough assignment.

Vandenbroucke nevertheless says that the rules are clear and relatively simple and does not intend to tinker with them much. “Pukkelpop said it was possible to organize the festival in a safe way. The plan of the Flemish government at the beginning of the summer included the option of continuing Pukkelpop. It was perfectly possible to test everyone in the field every day."

"We are actually asking less than that now. If we fail to comply with the rules, all respect and understanding for that. If they say they can't live up to it, then it won't go through"

My thoughts exactly. Damn, it doesn't look good at all...

Honestly I wasn't expecting anything different. I don't understand what Pukkelpop was expecting to do to manage a 65k people festival.

Probably. Or maybe they want some money from Government to provide rapid tests every day.

But what if many tests would result positive during the festival?

Maybe the only solution is to offer, together with the Government, a one-shot vaccine to all the non-vaccinated ticket owners or a second shot during the next two weeks to the ones who only had the first one and a refund to all those who don't want to get vaccinated. But I don't think Belgian Government and Pukkelpop want to do a big event for vaccinated people only.

They have been pushing people to get the J&J vaccine.

Logistically everything else is extremely difficult. It would mean anyone with a negative test has to be retested during Pukkelpop. Where do you test them? On the way into the music arena? What happens if you're positive; how do you get into the campsite to get your stuff, and will you be escorted off the area?
