Athletico Mince is a mainstay. Superb.

The David McWilliams Podcast - the best, most easy going laymans economics/politics podcast out there

I can't think of anything else on earth that makes me laugh as much as Athletico Mince does.

My Dad Wrote A Porno is hilarious.

I've also been enjoying Switched On Pop, a songwriter and a musicologist (whatever that means) dissecting pop songs.

+1 for Switched on Pop it's brilliant. Some amazing episodes, though it can be a bit meh if you're not a fan of the song in question. The "Into You" episode and the CRJ episodes are excellent.

I've seen so many people recommend My Dad Wrote a Porno.  So I tried it and I just don't get it. Banal drivel.  But then what would life be like if we all liked the same thing.

I like some of the 15 minute dramas on BBC sounds.

Big fan of Blood On The Tracks. 4 guest music obsessives offer up songs based on whatever criteria they pick that week. Can be something as simple as best Beatles song to stuff like song to play at your funeral, best break up song etc.

Some weeks more successful than others, guests obviously make a difference, but I've heard some good stuff for the first time. Expect a lot of Nina Simone. Don't start with the live show.

Further upvotes for Off Menu here. If you enjoy food ones Table Manners with Jessie Ware is great and Out to Lunch with Jay Rayner.
I have followed Hip Hop Saved My Life with Romesh Ranganathan from the get-go which is brilliant (if you enjoy hip-hop that is).

My favourite single podcast episode ever is the below. For everyone that has ever had a song stuck in their head that no one ever seems to remember. Highly recommend this as an introduction to just how great podcasts can be.

+1 for The Bugle. Zaltzman makes me laugh like an absolute drain. Love his stuff.

For rugby chat Flats & Shanks is great chat between two very old mates, and Blood & Mud is always worth a listen.

Sick and Wrong is an acquired taste and I haven't listened to it for a while, but if you're after some plain weird conversation between two odd individuals and a look at some dark news items, it's for you.  It's certainly one I'd approach with an open mind if not caution. You can generally listen to the first hour and skip the final 30 minutes when they take listener emails.

There's loads on BBC Sounds at the moment.  History of the World in 100 Objects is really cool little 15 minute snippets, and they've also got David Attenborough  narrating Life on Earth.  If you want comedy, they've got the full 7 series run of Old Harry's Game with Andy Hamilton, radio comedy set in hell.  Some of the references have dated a bit (it started in '95) but it's still a good listen.

Stuff You Should Know is awesome. Find a title on one of their episodes which interests you and give it a whirl. I recommend Flight MH370, Jellyfish, Ice climbing, and "you lost a limb, now what".

Oh and if you like football and haven't listened to Quickly Kevin, I cannot stress how incredible it is.

I listened to the MH370 double episode the other day doing some painting, really helped pass the time as an aviation enthusiast. I do skip quite a few episodes for ones I have more of an interest in. No Such Things As A Fish is quite similar made by the QI elves.

Quickly Kevin is doing a series of ‘best of’ podcasts during lock down so a really good way of getting into it if you don’t want to go through the back catalogue (you should). My first interest in football started with Pannini stickers at school, Euro ‘96 but I still find it fascinating.

Just came in to recommend The Bugle, which has been especially funny recently re trying to make sense of all the stuff going down here and in the States.

First two of the new Louis T pods are good also.

I listen to Blood & Mud religiously. Shame not many others can nail that tone quite so brilliantly

If it's not been mentioned already, Rule of Three. Two comedy writers discuss something funny their guest has brought in. Can be a film, TV show, stand up, or a recent one was The Far Side. Consistently very interesting, insightful and funny but they really seem to be on a roll at the moment

Do The Right Thing. A comedy panel show that is much much funnier than any of the ones on TV. Three regulars, Michael Legge, Danielle Ward and Margaret Cabourn-Smith plus a couple of guests, sometimes some pretty big names. No new ones at the moment but quite a big back catalogue to work through

To make me smile Gosspimongers. Was crying laughing walking the dogs once and got some funny looks. Would imagine this is hit and miss for many.

For music interviews Sodajerker. Big names along side lesser known names. Goes a bit deeper into song writing methods etc Always interesting.
