I've also binged Final Space and Castlevania on Netflix (I preferred Hellsing Ultimate to Castlevania though).

Since lockdown lifted had the grandkids round loads so had to put up with descendants, Dino Dana, that science lab thing and the new Adams family cartoon.

As Wifey has been working from home as well been restricted to what Anime/Hentai to watch as she hates the squeaky voices - but she went out the other night for a meal with girl-friends so I blasted my way through a couple of "Cultured" shows while she was out.

This weekend it'll be football and back-to-back Glastonbury sets.

So the issue your wife has with hentai which is pretty much cartoon porn that often features underage girls in is just their voices? 😜

I like anime but their fans do my head in and actually turns me off it, they way some fans go on about how deep and complex it's storytelling can be when it's just normally convoluted crap is worse than the constant underage perving. Saying that the last thing I saw was Carole & Tuesday which was pretty good, it was made by the guy that did Cowboy Bebop and generally his shows are really good and have clever use of music. Kids on the Slope another show he did in particular has this amazing scene of two kids just playing jazz music together, the drumming animation is amazing as it actually matches what he's doing.

watching Behind her eyes on Netflix. Watched 4 last night 2 more to go. Intriguing so far

Is that the one with Bono's daughter? If so, that was NOT the kinda show i was expecting (not necessarily) in a bad way.

I know it's not a new one, but started binging The West Wing, nearly finished season 1 in a week. It's absolutely superb.

I've been considering a re-watch of that (and LOST). Superb show (widely considered to take a bit of a dip in Season 4 when Aaron Sorkin stops writing the scripts, but it comes back strong).

Just gonna say the West Wing would have been perfect if it finished after 4th season. Thought it never quite found its way again after but it was a high starting point to fall from.

Just watched clarkson farm on amazon.

If you like Jeremy clarkson on telly its fine. Behind it's usual blokey humour there's actually quite a bit of 'fuck me farming looks hard'.

He's very honest and says without his other stuff he couldn't afford to do it and realises that maybe 30years of driving had helped fuck the environment and climate.

Watched that - it was OK , much better than the usual Ecchi reincarnated high school rubbish most Anime seems to be these days.

I tend to go for the darker stuff like Wonder Egg Priority, Elfen Lied, Beastars, Hellsing, but sometimes a bit of "To love Ru" or "Interspecies Reviewers" is just the level of "Culture" you need after another shit week with no gigs.

Castlevania on Netflix wasn't bad but High Rise invasion was absolute trash, I am looking forwards to the remake of Shaman King as I watched the original version back in 2001 and I know that adaptation was poor.

2 seasons down and I think, as it stands, it's my favourite show. Will have to see how bad the post season 4 dip is to see if it displaces Mad Men!

If I have one nit pick however, it's that bloody ending theme. Nothing more jarring than watching a really emotionally ending scene to then get a screeching Home Alone esque number piercing my ears 5 seconds later.

I’ve been back in the West Wing for the last few months too. I watched the whole thing back in the DVD era. It is superb, and I think it gets better as it progresses too.

The plot seemed rushed as well, with characters going from diagnosis to death so quickly

Actually that was pretty realistic in the early days you'll notice with each diagnosis there seemed to be more time. Having recently read All the Young Men by Ruth Coker-Burke in the early days it was very much an immediate death sentence because people weren't diagnosed until they had symptoms bad enough to kill them. As more awareness of the disease spread it led to more testing etc which meant early diagnosis and some management of early symptoms which led to a longer times between diagnosis and death and obviously to where we are now where diagnosis means it can become just another chronic condition.

You obviously don't like his style and that's fine that's personal choice but I'd much rather see these stories being made by the people who lived them and Russell T Davies did live it. I think if Jimmy McGovern had made it (and I love Jimmy McGovern) maybe you wouldn't have captured the joy and happiness of the lifestyle as well as the sadness.

Ive been keeping up with Kevin Can F**k Himself and I think it's gonna end up really good. Pretty cookey premise that I wasn't sure would sustain a series has made way for a surprisingly dark show about manipulation and abuse, there 3 episodes to go and if it sticks the landing could prove to be pretty devastating. Ya girl from Schitts creek is great in it as well. Dunno when it's showing here though.

I'm four episodes in to Sex/Life because a friend asked me to watch it and... good god. I don't even know where to begin. Terrible acting, terrible plot lines, terrible sex. Still, I'm probably going to finish the season if only so I can respond to my friend's commentary on it.

Suffice to say, I think the protagonist is tying with Carrie Bradshaw for "worst central character in the history of TV".
