The final Derry Girls were perfect.

Just came here to say this. Actually really skilfully and artfully done to suddenly add in the politics that was the backdrop to their childhood and really timely reminder of it given what's going on currently.

There were a few moans on Twitter from the usual types about how it’s a comedy so should “stay away from politics” (they said similar to the end of the penultimate one and how it should have just “stayed funny”) but the overwhelming response has been so positive. I thought it was perfectly pitched and some of those shots towards the end were powerful.

TBH those moaning are the ones who probably need that bit of education!!

Wowee that BCS mid season finale 😮

Difficult to see how the last six won’t be explosive every episode now.

Meanwhile I discovered this today. A fascinating exploration of the use of colour in the BCS universe.

Bloody Hell! What an episode!

One of the writers of BCS came out and said a couple of days ago that this season was written as a whole rather than intended to be broken up in to two parts and so this episode wasn’t gonna feature a traditional cliffhanger like we might expect from a mid-season finale. That motherfucker.

Incredible episode, and even though it’s only a short wait it’s gonna kill me all the same having to wait for the next six episodes.

Incredibly from BCS. Physically sat up and audibly gasped at the end. Watched the credits in disbelief

Such an amazing show

Did exactly the same, one of THE best WTAF moments I’ve seen on a TV show. As some have said, it was very slow to start with, some people gave in, but it’s been absolutely tremendous and up there with BB and Sopranos for me.

New BTC excellent as always, but the last couple haven’t felt quite as outstanding, especially in a final season.

I’m not a fan of the way they’re playing out the Sandpiper con. The viewers are left totally out of the loop, only understanding as it’s played out. That makes it hard to get excited about what’s around the corner, because we just don’t know.

Couple that with very limited Lalo scenes (that didn’t even reach a conclusion this week) and it’s dipped a bit mid-season. Hopefully shit will go absolutely nuclear in next week’s episode, leaving the final post-Glasto six to go all guns blazing, including the return of Jesse/Walt in some context, and a full length Gene episode.

Yeah episode 3 set the bar incredibly high with the Nacho/Salamanca stuff so going back to Saul and Kim and their escapades against Howard doesn’t have quite the same thrills and feels more like the initial vibe of season 1. Still great TV, but yeah, I thought it would’ve been more amped up by now, although I guess most of that will come in the second half of the season, or even in the mid-season finale next week. Still the best thing on TV even when it isn’t firing on all cylinders, mind.

Oh my actual god. The couple of ‘slow’ episodes all make sense now.  After Nacho, the Sandpipers saga all seemed a bit dull but as always with BCS/BB the dull bits are absolutely necessary to tell the story. It’s almost like the work the viewer needs to put in to get the pay off.

As always, the cinematography is bloody amazing… the candle flicker was genius. As was a whole scene watching Lalo take a shower to get straight back in to a sewer! 10/10 for me!

Watching The Staircase at the moment. I'm familiar with the original documentary (which is itself a great watch) and Colin Firth is doing an excellent job at portraying Peterson, but quite surprised to see actual hardcore pornography on the show. Not in a prudey way, I just always thought there was a hard line when it came to that.
