What telly progs are you bingeing on?

Last weekend I was made to watch some god awful Christmas movies so to appease me my girlfriend finally agreed to watch The Wire... fuck me, I'd forgotten how good it is and more importantly what a fucking legend Omar is. I genuinely think he's the best character in anything I've ever watched... such a shame there was never a spin off series.  You've gotta take the rough with the smooth though as Ziggy's such a massive ballbag... he actually seems to get more annoying the second time round which I didn't think would have been possible.

I know this is awful and far from the lofty heights of The Wire (which I still haven’t watched) but I’ve found myself binging “Can’t Pay? We’ll Take It Away!”, a god-awful load of poverty-porn trash from Channel 5.

It’s simple, I don’t have to think about it, it’s British so in a funny way makes me feel closer to home, and slightly better about my finances as well.

I know. I’m not proud of it.

As the only person on God's green earth who is strong on all 3 sequel movies I don't entirely agree, but to an extent they could have phoned this in and people would have still liked it. Instead it's a heap of fun while still actually being about stuff.

Yup, I'm a fan of 7-9 as well Calgon. Bits that could be better or even cut, but that's like most films.

Caught up with latest Mando last night. Seriously good. Treading the line between quality new storytelling and fan service like a boss.

Ted Lasso. On paper there is no reason it should work. An American Gridiron Coach being put in charge of a Premier League team, but it's well written and acted, has great characters and is surprisingly heartfelt in between the jokes (probably thanks to Bill Lawrence of Scrubs fame. Would recommend

Binged seven episodes of The Flight Attendant yesterday which is very good. Currently streaming on HBO Max and coming to NowTV in the new year, might have used slightly nefarious means but i would really recommend! Similar to Dead to Me.

Not so much a binge but my housemate and i are steadily making our way through the X Files for the first time, lots of love for Scully and Skinner, less love for Mulder! We're at season 9.

Has anyone looked at the Christmas TV schedules?

Ghosts, Taskmaster, Black Narcissus on my list. What’s on yours?

I thought the BBC were planning an unmissable night of NYE television so people would stay at home? Fuck me - celebrity the wall, a show about sewing & an hour of Paddy McGuinness!!!!!

Think I might drink myself to death this year!

Yeah it looked very off, but i can totally forgive it as everything else was just brilliant.

edit: holy shit only just realised there’s an after credits scene.

I didn't think it looked *that* off. Noticeable sure, but not enough to take you out of it.

Agree @CaledonianGonzo, they nailed it from start to finish.

As a huge Obi Wan mark I am buzzing even more for that now

Was that the last Mandalorian? I thought it had been renewed for a couple more seasons but would be happy for them to wrap it up there.

No just the series finale and the (possibly temporary) end of that storyline for now. It’s been renewed for at least another season I believe and probably more. Too much of a success to just end there, even with the huge wealth of new Star Wars stuff coming on Disney+.

Just started "Alice in Borderland" on Netflix. Absolutely tremendous stuff. Do yourselves a favour though and switch off the terrible English dubbing and watch it in the original Japanese audio with subtitles.

I agree. Three episodes in to this and loving it so far.
