How are we going to cure you of your problem?

Ha ha - I actually watched the cure! Sunday night, clashed with Carl Cox. They were Brilliant. I was drinking red wine. I actually have a v good memory... it’s not my day is it?!

Oasis, pulp, stone roses... REM?

Only 1 band missing from that list. Pulp replaced the Stone Roses when Mr Squire went a cropper on his mountain bike.

Oasis are correct (I foolishly chose them over Prodigy. In fact all 3 of my headliner choices were wrong that year).

So replace REM with cure?

I quite liked the relaxed feel to a point but after after the madness of the late 90s and 2000 there was a definite edge missing.

I think the fence had an influence on me making my first appearance... don’t know if I was so keen on edgy ...

2002, £1 million.

Such a quiet, relaxed feel that year!

Well done MrHew.  Over to you.  On balance I'm in favour of the fence.  Apart from anything if GFL hadn't put up the fence to control numbers their licence wouldn't have been renewed.

I felt the atmosphere suffered a bit that year. Felt a bit dead

I agree, but it was amazing the difference in the time it took to get around the site minus the overcrowding, it was less 'edgy' but having been robbed in 98 I wasn't too bothered by that. Funnily enough, nowadays the site feels as crowded as the pre-fence days.
