Where is the evidence of this deadly delta variant? Around 6/7 deaths a day? More people probably died falling down the stairs in the past few hours than that.

Quite possibly isn't more deadly, but is more infectious. Parts of US could be in trouble if takes hold there

Why are the CDC unphased about the delta variant?

Unfazed - nah. They're worried.

Scientists in the United States are anxiously watching the Delta variant of Covid-19, as it spreads through an unevenly vaccinated American public and an economy that is rapidly reopening.

The CDC began calling it a variant of concern last week

They don't have as much of it.

But they know how this works. It will increase there just like anywhere. They don’t seem worried at all.

Almost as if this is indistinguishable from any virus variant, but in a highly vaccinated population it doesn’t get very far.

They're trying to hit 70% fully vaccinated nationwide by 4th July, but some states have high vaccine hesitancy so are struggling

Yeah, 4 weeks was the recommended gap. Israel did 21 days for Pfizer, we’ve mainly done 28, but some gaps are slightly longer or slightly shorter (depending on the cohort). None of the mRNA ones have been used here with a long 8-12 week gap (though I understand why the decision was taken in the UK at the time)…

Here we have a 4 week gap for Moderna, 6 week gap for Biotech Pfizer. Others as said before not in use anymore. You get the same mail/app/sms for invitation to the centre. So I got mine for the second Moderna at the same weekday and same time slot which I had chosen for the first jab (this time only 4 weeks later), it`s all done by a software programme. So, when you get the first invitation you already know when exactly the second will be.

A higher proportion of our nation is now vaccinated in comparison to the US yet our attitude is predominately negative. What on earth is going on in the UK? I’m speechless about it.

Why is it negative?

Strikes me that the general feeling, loons and nutters aside, is that we're being quite pragmatic.

They always suggested between 65-75% would need to be vacccinated before full reopening, and now were are so nearly there. Why balls it up when we are so close. Late summer will be great............

Yeah, they aren't worried and they're all laughing at us.

I don’t think the Johnson variant has got into the States in any significant way, has it?

It is crazy how cautious this UK government are being now compared to last year but maybe they have learned their lesson?

Fully on board with doing it properly and pragmatically though.

The introverts have taken over, basically. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - you give these sort an inch and they take a mile.

If they had the chance would stop large events like glasto ever happening again as they are (1) extremely timid, (2) not that social and (3) so painfully hypochondriac that it doesn’t appeal to them. In an extroverts world they finally feel seen and don’t want to give it up. The reason why we fall for this as a nation is because we give it air time, the majority of Americans would laugh you out of the room if you started to advocate for a nanny state.

I find it absolutely crazy how many people seem to enjoy living their life in complete isolation by working remotely, not socialising, no holidays, and no cultural events. In any other era these nutters would be laughed at, not given front page of the news papers.

Well done, you have posted something stupid enough to make me want to log in just to call you a fucking prick. Congratulations. Considering the horse shit that is regularly posted in this thread which has thus far left me unarsed that is really quite the achievement.

What’s wrong about it?

Delta

What about it?

The vaccines are very effective at protecting against serious disease and death, even after just one dose. Those that do get symptoms the vast majority now get a milder illness than previous variants. Hospital stays are shorter. If anything it seems like it’s better to have delta circulating than alpha.

Yeah but exponential growth, that’s what you keep telling us isn’t it?

Wasn’t there a report recently that people who had been vaccinated with a 12 week gap with Pfizer had higher levels of antibodies than those with a 3 week gap?

Or what that being a bit economical with the truth and a 4-6 week gap trumped them both?

WTF? As someone marginally more to the introverted side I find this pretty bloody offensive, tbh.

Introversion has nothing to do with hypochondria or risk aversion. And it’s not some sort of cult - there’s no conspiracy of introverts out to keep the country locked down.

You’re also going straight for some seriously tired stereotypes of introversion assuming that it means we’re totally happy being stay at home hermits with zero social interaction.

Newsflash, that’s total BS - most introverts value a social life and their friends and family relationships as much as anyone - even if the way we interact with people can be a little different.

That’s not to mention that introversion v extroversion is an incredibly crude way to categorise people.

Using amateurish psychological terms to describe those you disagree with is a really bad look, please stop.

Its frankly nothing more than health theatre to keep calling these mass events "test events".

Just open up the country and move on ffs.

If they call them test events and it all goes horribly wrong the govt can claim it's not their fault. If they just open up and it all goes horribly wrong there's no escape for the govt it's called arse covering.
