When will this shit end?

Unfortunately, the world is full of idiots that will find anything to protest about because they want to chant that stupid ‘anti-facist’ chant.

What better place to protest than outside the HQ of the Met Police too, because they obviously created the law and passed it through parliament. Or is it because they’ve got enough stupid chants about ‘who’s streets?’

not with a UK protest, it's not.

When that UK protest is called because it's "unlawful" (as said in what was posted above), the problem is brain-dead morons in the UK.

I think this is an issue seeping over from American media though. American media in my opinion started this unlawful lockdown narrative first, and then it got picked up by people over here.

I think it’s slower to catch here because people generally respect the NHS more. The American healthcare system is merely a service you get billed for, and thus a different attitude over there.

Easier to get them arrested I guess!

I think one of, if not THE, greatest challenge of the next few decades is overcoming this level of stupidity in certain sections of the public. I really do fear that electing Trump might be seen as one of the more reasonable events in history as we move forward. The levels of stupidity seem to be growing exponentially.

And to be clear I'm not one of the far left types who go around insulting Brexit voters and Tories. I try to approach these debates in a calm and understanding way, because ultimately that's the way we'll bring the country together, but amongst those people above there's a fundamental lack of understanding of even the most basic facts and science that you can't even engage them. It honestly frightens me as much as climate change.

Hopefully social media just highlights the worst of it, and Covid-19 has actually heightened a sense of community and appreciation for public services etc.

That would be odd considering the far left is pro-Brexit. The Morning Star and Socialist Worker backed it as did majority of far left orgs. You're thinking of the soft left.

Have you watched Fox News? This is a problem with American press, Fox News is the most popular news channel in America and every day it airs segments like this.

I think British people would be shocked at the quality of news from Fox. This is why I don’t sympathise with many arguments that the BBC is bias. I don’t think people in the U.K. really know what bias news looks like. Where news caters the views of their sponsors, and news anchors get on the show by having their own list of sponsors (sponsoring them).

How can you blame people like this existing when cable news looks like this. I think most British people would be shocked at the sight of this.

There's going to be riots.... That's all I can say

the 'unlawful' line maybe, but we don't need to import stupid.

I think (hope!) this might be the case. All around me I see people behaving responsibly. I remember once a friend lamented that all he ever saw on the news was bad things, that the world was falling apart. It was pointed out that things on the "news" are generally exceptional events, that's why they are news. The good things that happen all the time are so commonplace, that they just aren't newsworthy. Most of the world is full of decent people doing decent things. When the news leads with a story that somebody was decent to someone else, then the world really will have fallen apart!

Anti vaxxers still around

“Hypothetically, if the season was to resume in July, August or September, though unlikely, I understand that a vaccine will become a requirement straight after we are out of strict quarantine and there is no vaccine yet.”

Last month, former world number one Amelie Mauresmo said the rest of the 2020 tennis season might be wiped out, saying that action should not resume before players can get vaccinated against the novel coronavirus.

“International circuit = players of all nationalities plus management, spectators and people from the 4 corners of the world who bring these events to life. No vaccine = no tennis,” the two-time grand slam winner said in a widely shared tweet.

Medical experts have said that vaccines against the respiratory virus would not be ready until next year, raising doubts whether any further tennis tournaments can be contested this year.

How can they be saying that vaccination will be a requirement when the vaccine doesn't yet exist and may not work anyway?  There may be effective drug treatments that minimise the risk of the virus before any vaccine and all this before we have a good understanding of the actual mortality rate of this disease. I'm not surprised Djokovic is wary.

To be fair to team moron the law as passed through parliament is one of the softest lockdowns out there and the worst things that have happenned(from a lockdown perspective obviously the worst thing that has happened is the 1000s of deaths due to the virus) have been when the some policeman with a hard on for power have interpreted the law as a right to do as they please. So if you are going to protest then Scotland Yard seems about the best target, obviously mass gathering to protest is stupid and dangerous but if you are going to do it I think the police are an excellent target.

I reckon the police are a pretty significant transmission vector, especially in cities. Why try and socially distance when you can crowd five of you round some randomer out for a walk and bellow and spit all over them?

Anti vaxxers will never go away, it’s the same thing as the distrust of experts. Opinion and instinctive feelings being equivalent to fact.

You will never get rid of dweebs who disbelieve all information that comes from sources they don’t like. Hating experts will never go away.

The average man on the street is stupid.

And unfortunately that means 50% are even less intelligent!

They can’t win though.

They are literally slagged off if they tell people to socially distance, and slagged off if they are seen to ignore it.
Yes, there are some (as there are in every sector) who can take things too far or go overboard. But, just seems a pretty easy target going in on the police for having to enforce a lax lockdown that is and has been completely abused.

I’m sure they’d much rather sit in close proximity to each other in a vehicle and attend calls where they’re assaulted/spat on/have to put hands on people with a bit of backup. Rather than go it alone and risk being filmed by some passerby who instantly sides with the person being restrained.

But hey ho 🤷🏻‍♂️
