Plan for a possible surge.

They also plan for a possible nuclear attack.

Fair comment, and in fact there is bound to be a "surge" of sorts from whatever the base level is at the end of summer as we will not be rid of Covid totally and not everyone will have the vaccine, there is also a surge in Flu cases as we enter winter, the point being made is why they have to be warned now about what they must know is an inevitable event. Are the NHS in london so out of touch with whats going on?

Exclusive: NHS in London asked to plan for ‘possible covid surge later in 2021’

They claim to have seen a leaked document which asks them to plan for another surge, you have to wonder where they think this surge is coming from if most people are vaccinated.

The guy seems to be a proper journalist,

https://www.pressgazette.co.uk/british-journalism-awards-for-specialist-media-2018-inside-housing-named-publication-of-the-year-full-list-of-winners/

The prize for Investigation of the Year went to James Illman of the Health Service Journal for his work looking at the East of England Ambulance Services Trust, one of the worst performers in the country on the most urgent response times.

Unless the vaccines are 100% effective there will definitely be a surge later in the year. Just as there will probably be restrictions too (we've already been told) - we need to enjoy the summer and I definitely won't be booking any gigs for after September this year.

Bit concerned by the Daily Mail's front page claiming NHS staff will be forced to take the vaccine too - there aren't exactly loads ready to step into their shoes so if that happens the NHS will be down on numbers which won't help matters

After a bit of a blip where it looked like cases were going to go up all over Manchester, quite spectacular daily declines in pretty much every borough:

It’s all my fault...as I reside in between Bury and Bolton, consistently the worst!

Had some bad side effects from my Oxford jab. Arm started to progressively ache as the day went on and then I started feeling a bit cold but hot to touch, but the fun really started going to bed. I barely slept a wink and was very hot to touch but felt extremely cold, headache, arm really aching by this point. I feel slightly better this morning but still feel very feverish and arm ache is quite bad!

Hope you get over it soon! Have you had covid before btw?

Thanks. Definitely could have been worse but last night was not nice and I am now knackered at work today!

I don't think I have had COVID but it's a tough one - my entire household (3 others) all got it before Christmas and I had a test a few days after their positive tests, which was negative - but I may have got it asymptomatically later and not known as I didn't take a later test as we were all self-isolating for about 20 days in total anyway.

Well if nearly 50% the over 80's are happy to flout guidelines once vaccinated you can only imagine that the % will increase through the age groups...

Let's not forget that survey which touted 96% compliance 😂

Blocking our Jabs supply so the French and Germans can keep them stored up and unused?

THE HAGUE — AstraZeneca subcontractor Halix has not sent any Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine doses to the U.K. after the EU implemented export controls, Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton said Wednesday.....

Some confusion remains over whether the plant is actually producing doses for the EU. It hasn't been approved to make drug substance in the EU, according to the company's conditional marketing authorization from the EMA, updated most recently on February 18.

Officials with knowledge of the U.K.-AstraZeneca contract say Halix has long been part of the U.K. supply chain, and note that it agreed last April to make the vaccine with the University of Oxford. It later announced another deal with AstraZeneca in December. Furthermore, the British government sent a team to the plant in November to help boost manufacturing there, Kate Bingham, the former chair of the U.K. vaccine task force, told European media in February.

Because in 2019 the hospitals weren't already full and right now they are.

Are they?

Do you have a link to % of beds occupied at hospitals at the moment?

The gov dashboard shows the total number of covid patients but not as a % of total hospital capacity (as far as i can see anyway)
