Come on then you lot, something a bit more positive to think about - What 5 things are you most looking forward to, when we can?

For me it's;

1. Hugging friends and family without feeling self-conscious and making risk assessments about safety and distancing - stress-free socialising.
2. A packed Amex (I'm a Brighton season ticket holder) in full voice.
3. The feeling of spontaneity re: freedom of movement returning - fancy pub tonight? Or a movie? Without having to think through a load of logistics.
4. A Summer music festival/live gig - might have to wait a while, but will be fantastic and a real moment of "we're back" for me.
5. Not endlessly consuming news articles/data relating to the Coronavirus situation, and whether it's improving/getting worse etc.

I've probably missed some really obvious ones, but how about for you?

Let's try not to get into a debate here, plenty of other times and places for that - I recognise people have different views as to when we will be able to safely do each of these things, I'm simply asking which things you are most looking forward to being able to experience again, whether in 2 months or 2 years' time.

🙂

1. Daughter being able to socilaise with friends normally. 2. seeing friends & family  3. Pub/restaurant/cinema. 4. gigs/festivals. 5 shopping.

Actually found it quite difficult to think of 5...that's why I have shopping in there.

I’m no defender of Trump. There are many hundreds of things you can criticise him for during his time in office. A 74 year old man being vaccinated is not one of them.

that wasn't the point...it was that he was president, has an anti vax following, and should be leading by example.

This second tweet doesn't make sense.

Is it assuming we change the delivery timeline when we get to younger adults? If I get vaccinated in the first week of June (as per the chart), then my second does won't be in the first two weeks of July.

I agree, he should be publicising getting the vaccine as that will hopefully bring some people around.

I think it's suggesting that we'll have such supply that we will be able to give 2nd doses much quicker - however you are correct in that we've heard a bigger gap is actually better for protection, so I think he/FT's missed that, potentially...

It might be if you're given a non-AstraZeneca vaccine though. Once we hit the end game and have delivered most or all first doses, there'll be no good reason to keep the full 10-12 week gap for Pfizer/Moderna. Whereas AZ they will keep it because it's shown to improve efficacy.

I’ve got a large selection of fabric ones. Always have one in the back pocket of what ever pair of trousers or jeans that I’m wearing. When my leg wear goes in the wash, the mask gets washed too and I know where they will be.

The same strategy I use, except I use N95s and replace them whenever I wash my trousers.

I think that is a pretty big assumption though and I'm sure plenty of those getting vaccinated towards the end will be getting AZ.

Just seems like an error by the FT guy.

🙂

1. Hugs with friends and family - long ones without looking the other way.

2. Watching my parents enjoy time with and hold my new niece - they’ve only been able to do this once since she was born in December. Not how it should be for new proud adoring grandparents! 🥲

3. Go out for dinner with friends - a long dinner with lots of wine and hugs and chats and laughter and piss taking.

4. Pack the car and pick up my mates for the road trip to a festival.

5. Be naughty in the forest and consume various things at said festival before dancing my ass off.

Returning to office is currently number 479 on the list.

In no particular order

  • Getting back to working events over the summer
  • Going to see friends/family without restrictions
  • Enjoying a decent meal in a nice restaurant
  • Travelling to Goa for the winter
  • Boris & co facing prosecution for their incompetence!

By the time any enquiry is done and case made for prosecution, all those involved will be in a tax free non extradition country with the billions they have siphoned out of the country.

No doubt one of the usual suspects will be along in a minute to tell us that "we still don't know if it cuts transmission though"

Sadly most of these people will never suffer any repercussions.
