I think if we are being realistic, we need to discuss when we will be allowed to have a brew with our parents or a pint with our friends again before even begin thinking of when large scale events can return. Running before you can walk and all that.

I suspect people are doing that anyway in each other houses. the rules on household mixing are unenforceable of course

Yep, this is absolutely my number one and basically only priority - being able to visit and stay with my parents.

Yeah agree with this. That's much more where I'm thinking at the moment. We have a couple of fully cancellable UK breaks booked in with family and friends now - if they go ahead I'll be delighted and it will be a big step up on last year.

As an aside to that tweet, I fuggin hate how everything has become ’the discourse’, formerly known as ’the narrative’.

Also, as an aside to the other replies, is it wrong that I find Priti Patel quite sexy? She could deport me anyday

If loving the Prittster is wrong, I don't wanna be right

Maybe Stalin was just a handsome hipster dude after all and Saddam Hussain didn't get enough credit for his dreamy brown eyes.

I think the relaxing of the lockdown will depend on what happens with the infection rates in the under 50s, where the hospitalisations have been increasing, and they appear to be suffering more than earlier in the pandemic. Most of them will not be vaccinated until much later (if at all), and they will be the spreaders to other under under 50s when lockdown rules loosen as they will be going out more, returning to offices/gyms/pubs/restaurants, etc. the virus is likely to spread quickly again amongst other in the same age group, and if they are more likely to be hospitalised now than before it could become a problem for the NHS again. I couldn't quickly  find the stats for the current number of people in hospital by age group, and between whether on ventilation or not?

She’s a despicable woman, yes.
But do I fancy her? also Yes.
And do I feel bad about that? Again, Yes.

It's not the end of the world if they miss that Feb15th date by a week or two, still very impressive. Supply was always going to be the bottleneck.

It would be disappointing but if its close enough to the target, then that's probably still decent enough

Is the vaccine generally being spread out in terms of size of hub? So for example the Pfizer goes to the specialist hubs because of its storage, but Oxford is going to smaller GPs?

I think that might generally be the plan due to the logistics surrounding the Pfizer one.

I just don't think gigs are coming back until at least next year unfortunately- we're being told all this repeatedly but choosing not to hear it. The government might want to reopen but gatherings are extremely unlikely this year I think - it'll just be pubs and most people will be happy.

By the time we're all vaccinated it'll be time for winter restrictions. You can't reopen gatherings then expect people to stick to the rule of 6 in September onwards again
