I watch the NFL in amazement over the numbers of people and players around and amazed that it continues ..... I wonder what the testing procedures are like over there

I think they have daily testing or every 2 days. They’ve managed to get through the season with only a few flare ups. More surprisingly a lot of the games are being played with fans.

(Looks at the opinion polls with sad expression)

Has it?

Not listening to scientists has created an environment where another lockdown has been required (political suicide).

Had they listened to the scientsits it probably wouldn't have been needed.

I just think they need a new approach.

And this is why attitudes will always be different towards whatever the government introduced.
As a flip side of your position, we are tearing our hair out being confined to just our house with a 20 month old! And this weather means we can’t really go outside for too long! So very much wish things were open (although appreciate the need for a lockdown!)

Oh yeah I totally understand that lockdown is totally shit. I just mean that if you’re going to have a lockdown then January might be the best time for it.

What’s irritating to me about that is the use of ‘complacent’ rather than ‘exhausted’ or ‘fatigued’ but hey ho.

I think many of the NHS staff are probably 'exhausted' and 'fatigured'.

Don't see them chucking the towel in.

That’s what I mean - in your situation it may be, but give me a summer lockdown any day!!

(Not a sentence I thought I’d ever be writing this time last year!!)

Everyone knows what the pay off is, the debate is about the amount of time until we get there. Telling people they can’t go on holiday isn’t going to help either. I despair.

I agree with her that we need more than just the 'vaccine'. It's not a total silver bullet, there needs to be other strategies being put in place to help us transition out and it doesn't appear as though they are in place.

If what’s happened is suicide they’d be hit much more in the polls.

Now it could come back to haunt them when the enquiries start. Or there’s a chance in the long run the wider population will get their lives back to normal, restrictions will be relaxed, Scientists calling for long term this and that will be voices shouting into Twitter echo chambers rather than on TV all the time, the Economy will rebound and they’ll be forgiven with a ‘well they tried their best in difficult circumstances.’

It’s too early to say whether their idiocy will cost them.

Certain people (not you) are now happy with a lockdown because it suits their usual lifestyle for this time of year. Take a trip back a few months and those people were arguing against lockdowns and various others things because it would’ve negativity impacted their lifestyle.

was just about to ask that      was it thursday you had it done ?  theres a number to call if it takes 5 days or more isn't there ? no sign of mine yet .... dont know if clicking the key worker box speeds it up at all ?

Yes, I imagine there is just a holdup as a lot of tests being processed at the moment. Especially round my way! Wish they wouldn't say 2 days if not the case, though.

Edit: and yes it was Thursday. Would have got picked up in the 5.30 collection.

The reason Compliance has lasted this long is because many have concern for NHS Staff. However once people’s emotional and mental well-being starts to suffer, NHS Staff or anyone else will be moved down many individuals priority list. That’s human nature.

Yep. Link is below but in short masks, testing, avoiding mixing of personnel unless essential, tracking and zero tolerance (fines dished out for breaches.. USD500K for one team who did not wear masks in the locker room).  A few postponements but managed to get all games done and not long left.

I had a watch of yesterdays anti lockdown march in London ..... whilst I would say that compliance has fallen  the numbers on these marches definately have too .... Ive 2 friends who were  furloughed in Lockdown 1 .... a parking attendant , and a surveyor ... both of whom im sure dont fall into absolutely essential workers ..... and also its quite easy for these people to nip and do other things around their work .... just nip to the range ... just nip to parents to pick up food  , all things that definately didnt happen early on

My favourite team the broncos actually had to play a game without any Quarterbacks (the most specialised position) because one tested positive after they’d been spotted in a meeting without masks and all were made to self isolate.

Thats the equivalent of a premier league team having to play without a goalkeeper and having to put a midfielder between the sticks.

How many vaccinations happened this week? BBC seems to be claiming 2 million happened which makes no sense seeing as Matt Hancock is saying “200,000 a day”. Presumably they mean 2 mil have been done in total now?

We only have official stats to the 3rd Jan, from tomorrow we’ll get daily figures though.

Agree with every word of this, the last few times there were incentives e.g. being able to see people in the summer and at Christmas, but now there doesnt seem to be much with either events being cancelled or being kept in the lurch until closer to the time and I agree it isnt sustainable to have an on/off lockdown system, I'm hoping the government uses this time to address the issues shes put forward (like with requiring tests before travel) however I feel this may be a repeat situation where they don't

2m in total. They are now doing 200k a day but that’s only due to a recent ramping up

I thought the Broncos had been playing without a quarterback for years 😄

Thanks. Based on this, if they work 6 days a week we can estimate approx 1.5 million a week in future weeks once mass centres are open- maybe some weeks they will hit 2 million. I reckon they will be a couple of million shy of their target come mid feb but will bluff it and say that everyone has been “offered” or something like that.
