Convinced myself I had it (again) bity it was just exposure to far too much alcohol. They need to crack on with a whisky hangover vaccine now they've got a bit of time on their hands!

When I had it back in February I thought it was just a bad comedown after a few heavy weeks and didn’t think much of it, other than finding it strange my taste was off.

Was only a few months later after doing an antibody test I realised I had it!

I couldn't care less what the bizarre clique on here think of me.. least of all you lol.

I called out some shameless hypocrisy and seem to have upset a lot of people with it. I am content with the fact that I am obviously in the right and clearly everyone agrees the guy is a hypocrite.

For what it's worth, I found it an odd statement given the debate around a trip overseas or not.

Personally I couldn't care less who breaks rules, doesn't break rules, who wants to live like this forever or who doesn't. My mantra throughout has been I will abide by the rules so long as I feel they make sense as I want to return to somewhere near normality as soon as it possible. To date, I've not always liked the rules but they make sense and I've abided by them.

What I really struggle with is folk who string others up for breaking the rules but pick and choose when they apply to them I'm not suggesting any rules have been broken here, and if they have I don't really care just own it. Obviously I would have a problem with some rules being broken e.g. coughing in people's faces.

Death is coming to us all at somepoint and people die every day. People will keep dying of Covid even after a vaccine and even after the rules are lifted or relaxed.

We all roll the dice every day.

We will all die of something some day.

Right. Back to business.

Is there any chance that Christmas transmission may be lower than expected? I’m going to give anecdotal evidence here but from the people in my family / I know virtually everyone has stayed behind very closed doors this Christmas. Even those which travelled / escaped London it’s not like they’ve been about.

Apart from solo country walks I’ve not interacted with anyone else but my household. I can’t imagine hundreds have descended on tier 2 pubs either - or I haven’t seen much evidence of it.

Yes there may be some household mixing issues but even people I know that I would categorise as frequent rule breakers seem to have been quite well behaved this Christmas.

There was a poll in the daily fail which said loads of people had given up on mixing over Xmas. Fingers crossed

Can only speak for myself and my family but none of us have seen anyone. We've not mixed with anyone since December 2nd in fact and that was outdoors.

I went for a walk with my parents yesterday .... distanced , whilst wearing a mask and obviously outside .... thats it though apart from work

It’s been a mix among my family and friends,  some cancelled plans, many stayed in their own bubble but there were some who had a mixing indoors kind of Christmas. So I think there’ll be some kind of Christmas related spike especially if the new variant is involved.

I actually think this may happen in March/April when more and more vaccinations happen, and by May onwards it'll be no restrictions.

That’s how I see it. Depressingly I think it may all happen too late for Glastonbury but I can survive another year without the Big G if my kids can see their Grandparents again.

Nailed on there will be an Xmas spike. Question is how big will it be.

I saw a lot of walking dead* yesterday at the light illuminations at our local zoo - lots of family's with granny and grandad in tow.

Lots of families that seem to consist of 1 kid and 4 adults or maybe they are just the parents friends. It's upto them but all these choices impact the numbers that impact us all.

At least it was outside and it was very good. A particular highlight was playing a roaring lion sound behind my partner in a nice dark area near the lion enclosure, she jumped out of her skin.

*I'm aware Covid isn't a death sentence and just seen granny and grandad won't give them Covid. Just playing on the theme some portray that seeing granny and grandad is signing their death sentence.

Out of my own straw poll of 17 people (across 3 different cities and all sorts of occupations) 15 were still planning to meet up at Christmas though none were in particularly big numbers. Thanksgiving in the States didn’t accelerate growth there according to the Beeb so you never know it may not be too bad.

Nearly everyone i know, except myself mixed where I am.

One of my friends went round a friends house for xmas, and after they had already got there and mixed, got a positive test, have no idea why they went round before getting results. And most of these people who mixed are people who wouldn't mix in a lockdown for the most part, so anecdotally i don't think it'll be that much less than anticipated

Damn. That’s not great.

Seems to be a mixed bag then. Who knows what will happen.

As a family we took the decision some time ago to have separate Christmases and for ages I've only been to work, to the supermarket or met people outside.

Unfortunately it would appear that not everybody has been of the same mind. I live in Northamptonshire which was Tier 2 before Christmas but neighbouring Beds & Bucks - both put into Tier 4. The main road through the village runs from Bedford to Northampton and on Christmas Eve was busier than rush hour with, presumably, people from tier 4 shopping/socialising in Tier 2; local shopping centres had been rammed since the Tier 4 announcement.

Christmas Eve night I went to the pub to pick up a takeaway, the restaurant part was absolutely rammed; "are these all locals?" I enquired. "Well they say they are and only give mobile numbers for contact tracing but we know that they've come from Tier 4 but we have to take them at their word can't do anything about it" was the resigned reply from the landlady.

I think that the majority of people have been sensible but that a significant enough minority couldn't give a f***.

Post Xmas spike and national lockdown (but not called that because that would need a vote in parliament) incoming.

I mean i guess schools could balance it out. Honestly think it's worth delaying schools opening until transmissions are lower, could be the thing that keeps the virus a little more under control until a vaccine. Now we know there's a end in sight, we can play for the dsruption to education. Though obviously not ideal

Surely as you’ve got to be seated and eat in Tier 2, pubs can only be ‘full’ (which they more than likely would’ve been regardless of neighbouring tiers) as opposed to ‘rammed’?
