When will this shit end?

I can see the reason for the blanket restrictions in areas. There’s a few of my friends talking about heading to York because their restrictions are lower. I’m not desperate enough to go 30 miles for a pint with a pie.

If restrictions were localised then you would see more movement of people going 5-10 miles to a different town just to get a drink.

No one ever comes to or leaves Worthing so we are unfairly picked on by Boris.

I can see a lot of places demanding to be moved down a tier come the 16th, whether theyll be allowed to or not is an entirely different matter

It's just occurred to me that it could depend as much on the effectiveness of the new Tier 2 as the case/hospitalisation drops in tier 3. If Tier 2 is now sufficient to keep R under 0, then there's a much better chance that areas such as Manchester will be allowed to drop down.

Thank you! Mines not good, safely in tier 3 with 295 per 100k :(

My area is 175 per 100k and falling but still Tier 3

Change the postcode to my old address 3 miles away and it shoots up to 400 per 100k.

That small difference is why all of West Yorkshire is Tier 3

It’s crazy that 3 miles makes the difference but I agree with your earlier point that generalisation or larger areas is to stop commute drinking/socialising etc

Trafford will be below 100 by the time we come out of lockdown at this rate.

I know it's looking so hopeful... I mean look how far Oldham and Rochdale have gone down too!!

With few weeks of Tier 3 as well let's hope it keeps it down enough to not let Christmas movement cause too much damage... I'd be surprised if most folk round NW are not staying cautious tbh (I know we will be)

Stockport is bound to be under 100 too by the end of lockdown, maybe even the average for the area as a whole.

Good article by Jen from the MEN on the realities of Moonshot rollouts for Tier 3 obviously focusing on Greater Manchester

https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/rhetoric-reality-operation-moonshot-19368722

One interesting point below was not getting help when applying for it, given students caused our numbers to go through the roof I'm surprised to hear this tbh:

Manchester will start testing around 40,000 students from this week. A request for military support through MACA - the national Military Aid to the Civil Authorities programme - was unsuccessful, so the universities have recruited hundreds of healthcare students to carry out the tests instead.

Did you read about how they want ‘sensible’, well-loved celebs to encourage people to get the vaccine?

Talk of Rashford but surely it needs to be an older person? Trying to think who’d be a good choice - someone in their 70s that everyone knows... McCartney? (It’s going to be Captain Tom, isn’t it?)

I wonder if we’ll get video footage of the first person to get jabbed? A few have suggested that the politicians should get it on the way into PMQs...
