This sounds sensible. If we could easily get there and back in a day and meet outside I would probably do something similar.

Luckily all my family we intend to see are within a 45 minute journey from us so we are in a fortunate position to be able to do this however I understand not everyone has this luxury - we also say this as me and my mum both work in schools and darent risk the spread of anything, I would intend to still try and socialise with people in public spaces though should we continue to be allowed to

It was a shit joke. Barely even a joke. And from the little I've seen of Fin Taylor before, about standard. He's not very good. But 'shocking', 'proposed murder'. Behave

Agree to disagree, somebody saying ’all you’ve gotta do is bomb Glastonbury’ even as a joke is a little shocking to me.

And i don’t know, its fairly low odds but there is a small chance somebody stupid sees it, sees someone on a mainstream bbc show saying that kind of thing, and feels like it chimes with how they feel and validates their violent antipathy towards corbyn or glastonbury. Again, i don’t think its super high odds, the venn diagrams of HIGNFY fans and terrorists is maybe just two separate circles, but it was shocking enough to go viral on social media thereafter so maybe it did reach some fascist incel basement masturbator who thinks ’yeah this guy knows, we gotta bomb glasto!!!’

*also lets put the shoe on the other foot- Imagine the fume if somebody went on and said ’What we need to do, plain and simpley is bomb the tory party conference ’

Ironically I was going to include pretty much that same scenario as so ridiculously unlikely as to why no one had to worry about this but I didn't bother because I thought it was so preposterous that no one could possibly think it was a potential issue. And 'shocking enough to go viral on social media' is a pretty low bar, especially where Corbyn fans are involved

Why not? Jokes also serve to normalise things. Look at how all these famous pedos got away with it during the 70s - oh Thats just classic jimmy, dont mind him. Its only through hindsight we often realise that it wasnt right.

But anyway, i don’t hang out at the pyramid much and presumably that would be the number one spot for anything like that to happen. But dont say i didnt warn you when you’re all blown to smithereens while you’re all watching the 1975 or whatever goes on over there.
That said, if i did find myself watching the 1975, i think being blown to smithereens would actually be a mercy

I tell you what, when I'm blown up by some sad little incel/Islamist fundamentalist/Qanon/right-wing nut job/whatever who got the idea from watching a shit comedian on a satirical panel show 20 years past it's prime then I'll use my last breath to shout out "if only I'd listened to mattiloy, he made such sense".

(I was going to try and make a point about how shocking your last line was, but hard to argue with it though)

Edit

In fact, I've just realised that our imaginary terrorist didn't get the idea from HIGNFY, he already had the idea, wasn't sure if he should bomb Glastonbury or not, but the shit joke made him realise that cos the rubbish comedian said it, that that makes it OK

Have you heard their new song "Having no head"?

It made me wish I literally didn't have a head so that I wouldn't have to listen to that audible tripe.

Im really torn on what to do. I don't really have anyone to spend Christmas with in Liverpool, and all my family live far away; all 100+ miles, and I don't drive. :(

yeah, difficult. See what Bojo says about christmas and then discuss with your family?

My christmas message to the world: Do what you feel is best for you and your family this christmas as long as within the rules, and don't judge others.

How many on here are actually planning not to see family at all over Christmas, out of interest? @crazyfool1 and @Ozanne but anyone else? Or are people waiting to see what happens?

My mum babysits once a week as does my mother-in-law so there's already a fair amount of spreading risk between that core group of my wife, kids and the two Grans(who live alone) but we won't see any further extended family.

On some slightly positive news, for the first time in many weeks the number of people hospitalised by Covid has dropped a little in the last few days, fingers crossed this might be the start of a trend showing the effectiveness of the lockdown.

This is a much better number to see coming down than cases.

Not quite as definitive as deaths reducing, but we'll get there.
