You don't think they will delay it if he ends up really ill? Maybe they can't. Blimey. What a year.

Worry about his fans claiming the result isn't legit if he's ill for a while and he loses (as they were going to anyways), even if he's only out for a week or two he'll start claiming that--could become very messy

If he ends up getting it bad, which is possible, he could be out of it for months. They'll have to delay the election.

You cant delay the election. There is nothing short of a terror attack or nuclear war that can stop it. Congress would have to agree to a new law to change the date. It could be challenged in the courts too. And lest you forget that even if that happened and your months scenario played out, they have to leave office on January 20th and follow the lines of succession afterwards. Thats why the whole results being delayed also wouldve potentially made it more of a shitshow when January 20th rolled around and there was no outcome. Lots of safeguards in the constitution here and that isnt even diving into the 25th or if the candidate died before the election and what follows afterwards.

My friend in America said Pence will simply take over, it’s at they always have a Vice President for, it’s similar to when Raab took over when Johnson when he went into ICU

Soz for the length:

Could Congress delay the election?

Yes but it’s not easy. To move the date of the presidential election because of an emergency would require a change in federal law, which must be passed by both houses of Congress. That means the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives and the Republican-controlled Senate would need to agree on a law, pass it before Nov. 3, and president Trump would need to sign it. It could then be challenged in the courts, like any federal law.

Even if that happened, Congress is limited by the constitution in the changes it can make to a presidential election. The 20th amendmentstates that presidential and vice-presidential terms must end “at noon on the 20th day of January.” So even if the election were delayed, Trump’s term would still end on Jan. 20. And Congress can’t delay an election indefinitely, per the CRS, because the constitution requires that US representatives be chosen every two years and senators every six years.

States have the power to influence presidential elections because they can choose how they appoint members of the electoral college. However, per the US Code, electoral college members must count their votes on “the first Monday after the second Wednesday in December next following their appointment” and the states must send their votes to Congress by the fourth Wednesday in December.

In its 2004 opinion, the CRS said (pdf)(p. 9) that state laws enacted to allow for the postponement of an election in case of emergencies—which exist in at least 45 states—”might be able to be used to postpone the general presidential election in an emergency.” But those states would still have to send their electoral college votes to Congress by Dec. 23, 2020. If there is no winner of the presidential election by Jan. 20, the speaker of the housebecomes acting president.

Turns out trump never even got tested before the debate as he arrived too late. So likely he's had this for days and could be the super spreader, not that Hope Hicks they made out it was.

As someone who has a friend that suffered badly from Covid, I would not want to wish ill on anyone, even Trump. I am also someone that does not buy into conspiracy theories, however it does seem plausible that this is a scenario from the Trump Playbook.
