Here’s what closes from 10pm:

  • Businesses selling food or drink (including cafes, bars, pubs and restaurants), social clubs, casinos, bowling alleys, amusement arcades (and other indoor leisure centres or facilities), funfairs, theme parks, adventure parks and activities, and bingo halls, must be closed between 10pm and 5am. This will include takeaways but delivery services can continue after 10pm (from 24 September).

If you think about it, Boris himself is kind of proof that anyone can get it badly. He is a bit fat but he is not elderly or what anyone would consider to be in the vulnerable group. Think it got pretty hairy for him in intensive care. He should maybe talk about his own experience more to kind of bring it home to those who think it only affects old people. Doubt he will, though, as won't want to show weakness.

West Ham United just had to pull two players out of their starting lineup for an EFL Cup game during the warm up because their tests came back positive. Manager David Moyes was also positive and is self-isolating.

As West Ham manager that’s probably the first time he’s been positive

you lucky bastard.

yes indeed, i do feel very lucky, coming here was a 50:50 decision in 2018 and involved a big drop in salary and standard of living but it has been such a relief to be here. Talking to my boss who is also English this morning and we really can't get our heads around what it must be like for you guys over there, i know i really feel for everyone there and must admit i'm thankful i don't have any family to worry about there.

This thread used to be about the Covid pandemic but now seems to be any current affairs people fancy talking about. Makes it harder to see useful info imo.

Really? I see this as more of a riding the storm thread. “When will this shit end” is a really strong question in light of all that’s going on at the moment. The world really isn’t in a great place and we hope all the shit comes to an end!
