It's all such bollocks isn't it? Ooh we've increased the face mask fine to £3200. Doesn't really matter how much the fine is if it's not being enforced anywhere.

Agreed. Same with the on the spot fine of £10,000 for the illegal gatherings, as the police aren’t breaking up the illegal raves anyway.

Timing awesome as ever too

10pm add new countries to quarantine list

10.45pm eases shed load of restrictions

It's almost like they are trying to distract us from something mmmhhhh

With the rising numbers I’m not sure the easing is well-timed. I am certainly worried about surging with the rest of Europe.

totally agreed we are over their so called case tolerance of a 1000 for the last few days, it's nuts in one hand we lock down hols but then open everything up here which will inevitably increase cases..

It's almost like they don't want to spend our money abroad as usual but spend it here on an overpriced sandwich or something (but us fatties still need to lose weight as well too) its a friggin joke tbh

Agreed.... pretty spot on and couldn't have said it better myself.

If our cases overtake France etc do we start letting them in again? What happens when we are recording 3000 positive tests a day and they are recording 2500- is the quarantine removed?

Well for me, that's an already too busy weekend, with not enough staff to deal, made even busier then. Pretty short notice to everyone. Especially the staff that have to deal. Too late to call up more staff. Would love to rant but OSA (i may have whoopsed a bit already there).

Guidance / law ... that’s part of the issue I’d say ... what is what ? Nobody has the foggiest ... perhaps that’s not accurate .. I’d say few people do

Hard agree here.

Tell me what I can't do, fine me if I do it.

Otherwise it's not worth the paper it's written on.

These. Quite. It's all just been mainly "guidelines" hasn't it. Not law. Just "guidelines". And even the laws they did make (like fining people) have hardly been enforced that extensively.

I'm pretty much still in lockdown and totally unaware of the current rules. If I go to someones house or meet up in the pub with them do I have to attempt to social distance or just crack on?

I think you're supposed to attempt to distance in a home but not in a pub? Or at least pubs don't seek to be enforcing it.

Just to add that I've not been to a pub yet so could be wrong. I have been to one restaurant though and we were two households sat well within 2m of each other so I'm guessing most pubs are the same? I don't get it.

Just read the guidance you can meet up but still must maintain social distancing from people not in your household essentially. Like you say not possible sat round a table.

Looks like they are gonna start hiding the figs or at least manipulate again :(

Seems to me there are a lot of very anxious people out there. I've worked throughout this and there are work colleagues we've not heard a peep from. Nish, nada, nought.

Worrying.

Still, now, sometimes I just wanna lay on the sofa. This is new.

Changes tomorrow (from the BBC). Top one most interesting - but can't see much evidence of it actually happening (in London anyway):

  • Indoor theatre, music and performance venues will be able to reopen with socially distanced audiences
  • Wedding receptions in the form of a sit-down meal for up to 30 guests will be permitted
  • The piloting of a small number of sporting events to test the safe return of spectators will resume, commencing with the final of the World Snooker Championship at Sheffield's Crucible Theatre over the weekend
  • Casinos, bowling alleys, skating rinks and soft play centres will be allowed to reopen
  • "Close contact" beauty services such as facials, eyebrow threading, eyelash treatments, make up application and microblading will resume
  • Pilots will take place at conference venues ahead of the expected resumption of business events from 1 October at the earliest

With the indoor performance thing, I believe the majority of venues have said it's not viable for them to open and run performances with social distancing measures in place as they can't break even. So easier to stay shut for now and keep staff furloughed etc.

Yeah it's a bit mad. Not possible sat round a table at all.

The only household we've visited indoors has been my parents once (even then we spent most of the day outside) but I found maintaining 2m distance indoors was pretty impossible too. Houses just aren't big enough really.

Interesting, just had a look around a couple of comedy clubs in London and could only find one that appears to be going for it from tomorrow (in Covent Garden); is indoors with chairs usually quite squashed together)

Wonder how they're doing it then? Website seems to say nothing about Covid measures.

This new easing of restrictions seems a weird one to me. It certainly feels like chunks of Europe are sliding backwards, and it’s inevitable that will happen to us as well, probably sooner than later. Not sure it feels the right the right time to be easing further...feel like we should be keeping a very close eye on things as they currently are for a bit longer and maybe even pull back on some stuff, especially if you want schools open soon.

I really think it's just motivated by the shit economic news. It's the last big opening phase essentially isn't it? Think they just want it done and over with.

Its definitely worrying though, especially with no figures released yesterday.

The schools bit is very important, I think they should pull back on some things to ensure kids can go back to school. Then again this is capitalism with a government that focuses on business so we are getting what we voted for.
