I think that is one area where they may close off the streets to any traffic and have outdoor seating on the roads.

Yeah I've seen the talks about it and can defo see it working in most places, but might be difficult say on Dale street and such but we'll see as love that area

I can’t see Boris leading them into the next election. He’s going to be politically toxic after this pandemic is over.

I’ve been thinking about that, he’ll never quit though. It would have to get much worse for Tories to turn on him, he’s moulded the party. The new MPs owe him their jobs in a way. He’ll be desperate for a 2nd term as well.

Incredible. Starmer is the hero we need right now. He’s played everything nearly perfectly.

Not according to people on my Twitter feed (far left/‘socialist’)... They were not happy with his, what I thought was perfectly reasonable,  response to the Colston statue saying he’s a Tory etc. They seem to have forgotten his previous career...

I could see Boris going out after the pandemic is over with the rhetoric he led us through it with huge success. Then the book deal, after-dinner speeches and TV shows will tally up.

He’s lazy though, I can see him giving up because he can’t be arsed sorting out all the mess- (COVID 19, economic ruin, no deal brexit etc)

yeah, don't know. He is still all powerful in the govt (along with Cummings), and many tory MPs probably still feel they owe him. Just have to see what happens with this virus, with the economy, and with brexit. Could be in for a rough few years. I'm not really sure what Johnson is for...he is kind of seen as some sort of populist, but he isn't really that, he's really just a liberal posh boy,  but being seen as a radical populist has helped him...and it's why he needs Cummings because he is driving it all.

Tories can be ruthless though. If the 1922 lot sense that Boris is really starting to tank approval ratings then they will make a move, even with the majority. Plus I think Cummings is more loyal to his cause than he is to Boris - I can see Cummings moving to make BJ the fall guy and bring Gove in his place.

That’s the beauty of Boris’ majority, that back bench committee are less powerful. I’m not saying it wouldn’t happen but I can’t see them kicking him out this soon in the the 80 seat majority. No other Tory leader has given them this strong a majority since 1992.

I said yesterday about the Labour Left. I think the difference can be seen, Labour under Corbyn would’ve come out fully in favour of everything yesterday, however Starmer took a more moderate approach agreeing with the ultimate goal but disagreeing with the means. I saw it compared with a leader responding with what activists want to hear and a leader responding with what voters want to hear.

To be honest I think those types need to just suck it up for the time being. Now isn't the time for infighting. Get the Tories out, hammer them in to the ground and then we can move to the centre-left Vs left debate. But for now, for god sake just get together and fight the common enemy. I agree with most of their views and want the same thing, but frankly they need to get their head out of their arse and accept the reality. The country isn't swinging from a right wing Tory government to socialism in one election. I'm not saying you can't demand better from Starmer, but surely we can all agree a Tory government is worst case scenario and Starmer is very clearly trying to bring the jaded voters back to the party, which IS the right play.

That’s exactly what I thought. I said it to a few of them and got shot down. Some were even posting screenshots of them cancelling their membership direct debit.
Patience and trust in Keir and his wonderful hair.

Well, Corbyn played heavily to them and got slaughtered in the GE, so losing that minority of hardcores might be irrelevant if Starmer wins traditional voters back.

In Keir's hair we trust!

If the centre of the party had taken that on board instead of throwing a massive hissy fit over the prospect of mild democratic socialism for the best part of five years we could have had a Labour government by now.

Hey I don't disagree with you and I was calling for everyone to pull together under Corbyn too, but there's a chance for a clean break now and I'm not bothered about finger pointing. Gets you nowhere. Let's pull together, put the past behind us and fight the common enemy. It's the only forward unless you want de Pfeffel for the decade.

Bang on. Just because some parts of the party didn't pull together in the past, that doesn't make it a good idea to continue to hand the next election to the Tories because of all the in fighting in Labour.
