I completely get where you’re coming from, I’m having the same considerations... but, I think you’re being unduly harsh on yourself. Obviously Cummings is in a position of power and was responsible for setting the rules, he should be absolutely whiter than white. We’re now in a different stage of lockdown anyway and you could see your family in a public place now without breaking the rules. From Monday you can see them in your home within the rules anyway. I also have no idea why they announce these changes and give a future date, because announcing them means 90% of people do them immediately anyway which I’m pretty sure they know will happen. Remember when on a Sunday he said people could go back to work the very next day? Also Cummings breaking the rules is a valid reason for everyone else to break the rules, it’s not contradictory in the slightest of you ask me.

The dilemma is that the eldest is 2 and a half years old so will naturally want to play, hug etc and having to awkwardly stay 2 meters away from him will be difficult. I don't want to risk upsetting him or making things difficult so meeting at 2 meters apart at the moment doesn't seem like something we can do. Unless I'm completely missing something we can do, which is very possible.

Yes my situation is the same, I’ve got a nearly three year old niece who hasn’t seen anyone else in the family since March other than Zoom twice a week... and she keeps asking when she can see her family. Completely get what you’re saying, Dammed if you do dammed of you don’t.

As an aside, just put have I got news for you on and DC is getting a suitable roasting

I've not been keeping up recently. But I believe that if you compare the number of people who have died over this period with the same period last year, the FT already has us at 60,000.

Some of those will be indirect deaths caused by implications of the lockdown but I don't suppose we'll ever know how many.

I hope you make the right decision for you and your family.

I'm watching that right now, hilarious stuff.

The excess deaths are 20-25k above what can be accounted by the official Covid-19 attributed deaths. I accept that there "consequential deaths" caused by people not receiving treatment for non covid-19 related conditions, however there will also be a reduction in other Deaths such as road traffic accidents or work related deaths. There is a clear fact that the excess deaths data for UK (England specifically) are way out of kilter with anywhere else in europe. I refer the honourable gentleman to my previous post.

Continuing the good news theme, Michael Gove got caught knocking one out last night on Twitter (he 'liked' a porn vid and then deleted - but not before a load of people had screengrabbed).

Just seen that, what a pilock.

Haha.

The good news is that I won’t have to hear Dominic Cummings name 15 times a day like I have for the last 5 or 5 days.

The bad news is 4 or 5 days of everyone banging on (pun intended) about Michael Gove is enough to ensure I’ll be keeping away from the news again this week.

There has to be a day of reckoning for these people.

Ironically all of the servile scientists who seem to be in thrall of the government and have been all to happy to lie through their teeth/ change the subject/ spin lines, will be the ones who cop it- government' set them up for the fall from day one ("We're following the science"), and they don't even realise it.

Happy morning too

Still find it fascinating/depressing that so many people still support them- what does it take?! Same with Trump, seems like they can literally cause the deaths of tens of thousands due to ineptitude, lie through their teeth, but emerge with their core vote in tact.

It’s entrenched and will take time for those people to change their feelings on the government. Remember Corbyn nearly beat May, but he became so unpopular it built up this deep lying dislike of Labour. That seems to be reversing now if it’s enough we’ll see but that poll is very good news for people that want rid of the Tories. Just remember it’ll take time, hopefully.

If a significant number of that 20-25k are actually unreported Covid deaths how do you think they might have slipped under the radar?   You would assume they would have had clear symptoms so even with no test you would think they would have counted among the suspected cases.  Or are they perhaps from earlier on in the pandemic before we were really keeping track of it all?
